CTD When I walk near places

Okay I've only experienced this in two locations. Outside Chorrol (I fast travel to the stable outside, walk towards the gates, and hear two warning noises from the system, then another, and CTD (Crash preventer)) Same thing happens after I got a mod, Reaper's A Friendly Back-Up, so naturally I'll be told that's the problem. But turning it off doesn't stop the problem outside Chorrol (And the camp isn't there without the mod). This happens with both old, and completely new save files.

 

I haven't checked other locations, primarily because I want to try and fix this first. I've been uninstalling random mods in the hopes that would fix it, but only the recent ones, as others have never troubled me before, at all. I once had a 'Stable Oblivion!' Hours without a twitch. Also, it's not the System not being able to handle the game. I can handle games from 2011 one the highest graphics and all that s***, so it's pretty good! I do like me my Alienware. But never-the-less! I play Oblivion more than any game I've ever owned, and I would very much like someone's help in letting me play it once more! :3

 

Extra note: I have turned off a TONNE of mods that I raked through and found unnecessary. The ones I have active are the ones I really want xD They all worked before, also. I am stumped!

If you're using a 64-bit Windows Vista/7, it may be useful to use the 4 GB patch on your Oblivion.exe.

CTDs often occur when Oblivion runs out of memory, so it may do the trick, especially since you say your system is top-of-the-line.

Are you sure it would be a memory issue? I mean, I've removed a tonne of mods I once had, which ran without a hitch. Also, I walk mere feet before it crashes. After startup. Which is new to me! It's very odd indeed, but I will have a read through that and see what's what.

I've got 6gb of RAM, by the way. Uh. Useful? It's not the processor I imagine. I don't even know if it could be either of those. As I said, I've made the game smaller, essentially, and this is new. x.x

Nope. Still get the crash. Excellent! I removed all the mods I didn't make use of, and kept all the ones that DIDN'T cause problems before. 4gb limit now on the .exe. Sigh. Any ideas? xD

Another way to alleviate strain on your RAM is to dedicate a fast USB device to Ready Boost. Some mods your'e using (UL, QTP...) are real RAM hogs, so if you don't already use the 4gb Patch and/or Ready Boost, this may be the problem.

 

If this doesn't fix it, you probably have the graphics settings too high.

 

Update; just saw your last post. Try renaming the Oblivion ini and running the game. Don't delete it, so if this doesn't work you won't have to redo all the tweaks. Once the game loads, make a save.

Nope, Graphics settings were always at max. Haven't had any random crashes like this (Obviously. Silly Oblivion) before. started last night, and I don't know why.

Try the ini trick i mentioned above.

 

Try it with lower graphics anyways just to eliminate an easy possibility. Also try turning AA down or off.

 

If that didn't work, the first thing i would do is a full antivirus scan.

Graphics haven't changed since I got it. But I did try and that didn't work. I mean, it only happens when I go to a certain location. Which is basically, exterior, be it Wilderness, Inside a city, or JUST outside a city, walk about 20-100 ft, BAM, crash >.>

 

Virus scan? Willdo! Just as soon as I get an antivirus >.> Trial ran the hell out, have no credit card, woo :3

 

Edit 2: Turned off all mods I got last night and yesterday (Problem started last night, so, yeah) Nope. Didn't change a thing.

Edit 3: Renamed ini. Played. Same crash.

The Oblivion ini is located in Documents/ My Games/ Oblivion.

 

It doesn't matter what you rename it to; try MyIni or something similar.

 

Many mods make changes to the ini. These changes are not reset after uninstalling the mod though.
