Fenryr3001
Well,I like big guns and I cannot lie.And I like revolvers even more.So naturally,I'd like the Smith and Wesson .500 which sadly was never made a mod.I ask you to change that. It'd deal a fair bit more damage than a Ranger Sequioa, but only has 5 rounds.Fire rate like any revolver and the accuracy can stay the same as the aforementioned Ranger Sequioa. It would either use 50cal (which is overkill) or use the 500 S&W Rounds from CaliberX. Here is a pic (The upper one is the gun I want): And here is a Wikipedia page for exact information,if needed (largest barrel, please) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_%26_Wesson_Model_500. devinpatterson
I'd like the Smith and Wesson .500 which sadly was never made a mod.I ask you to change that.Weird I could have sworn I saw this in a mod before......hmmmm maybe just wishful thinking. It'd deal a fair bit more damage than a Ranger Sequioa, but only has 5 rounds.Fire rate like any revolver and the accuracy can stay the same as the aforementioned Ranger Sequioa. It would either use 50cal (which is overkill) or use the 500 S&W Rounds from CaliberX.They're actually pretty on par in regard to damage. Your standard (read modern) JHP on the 45-70 is 2,852 ft·lbf (3,867 J) and strong is 3,449 ft·lbf (4,676 J). The .500 S&W Magnum cartridges vary between 2,254 ft·lbf (3,056 J) and 2,877 ft·lbf (3,901 J). Bigger caliber for the .500, but the 45-70 is a longer cartridge to fit more grains. You can essentially just say that both rounds are over the top ridiculous.
Stronglav
Hey I like big revolvers too....I've been wishing for a bad ass black revolver for quite some time now......
devinpatterson
Also you could have it use 12.7mm ammo. I don't think the wiki lists the length of the cartridge, but it is a pistol round and the caliber is identical, so you could probably get away with it (at least no one could prove otherwise) if you want a stock FONV round. You definitely couldn't use 50cal, that's based on the BMG round and even though the caliber is .50/12.7mm it's a completely different round (more than twice as long, different rim diameters etc). Don't let the .50 cal fool you, they are very different rounds. OK gun geek mode off.....
Fenryr3001
12.7mm it is then.Honestly,I just love the look. Will you make this mod?I know the chances are for it to be made are close to zero,so please don't mind me asking. The only thing I found regarding the .500 is another thread from 2012 requesting it.
devinpatterson
Honestly,I just love the look.Yeah it is a thing of beauty. The only thing I found regarding the .500 is another thread from 2012 requesting it.I could have sworn I saw it, but then again my memory is cr*p. Will you make this mod?I know the chances are for it to be made are close to zero,so please don't mind me asking. No I don't mind you asking. I wish I had the skills to make an original model, but it would take me ages. I'm just not that accomplished when it comes to creating a new, original firearm......like some of the master gunsmiths we have on nexus. I can look into editing an existing model, but there are people far better qualified than me for a project like this and to be frank I just don't really have the time for another large project :(
Fenryr3001
Ah well. With a bit of luck this bumped our thread enough for someone with the skills required to find it,although that's unlikely.Never got my hopes up anyway. The gun does look a bit like Millennia's Taurus Raging Bull (http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/48570/?) with the exception of the barrel. This might a good base to start from, with permission of course.I would understand if you wouldn't do it though. You must be overloaded with work, judging by all the requests you've taken, and, like you mentioned, modelling isn't your forte. madmongo
I like revolvers too, though I tend to avoid the hand cannons. Well, I say that but I own a .44 magnum Dirty Harry type revolver in real life. I also own a Model 1851 Navy that is engraved and looks a lot like the guns that Wild Bill Hickock used carry around, though not identical. I like that style better. Anyway, I could have sworn I've seen a Smith and Wesson .500 somewhere. I found this for FO3 but it looks like all they did was tweak the .44 magnum.http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20473/? Let me poke around a bit and see if I can find the S&W .500.
Fenryr3001
Good luck.I may start looking myself in a few hours.
devinpatterson
The gun does look a bit like Millennia's Taurus Raging Bull.......This might a good base to start from, with permission of course.I think Millennia rarely grants permission for use of his assets IIRC. I would understand if you wouldn't do it though......like you mentioned, modelling isn't your forte. No I wouldn't say it's my forte, I'm not even sure I have a forte per se, but I'v done a fair amount in blender and most of the time it's turned out better than I expected. But a high quality, original model, would be very challenging for me. However you aren't necessarily limited to just the nexus community for the model. There are plenty of public domain 3D resources and is sometimes possible to convert them into nif format. It's more challenging with a weapon model as you have a lot of work setting up the meshes to work with the animation keys.....and sometimes essential assets (for FONV) may be missing. But if nothing else comes through it might be an avenue worth exploring.
