Fallout 4 setting

So, Bethesda have said (in a roundabout way) that they prefer cityscapes to more open wasteland (like fallout: new vegas had, with NV being fairly small compared to the DC ruins). What city do you want to be, or do you think will be featured in Fallout 4? I'm thinking New York or Chicago, they can't go back to DC and they can't go to LA without slamming right into continuity issues with Fallout 1 & 2. New York would be awesome to see but it would be called derivative b/c of Modern Warfare 3 and Crysis 2 having used NY so recently. Also, I read that destructible environments will be in Fallout 4, not on battlefield scale or anything, but blowing holes in walls, shattering glass, knocking doors off hinges etc. How about that? I think New York would be perfect.

-Not because I 'like' either New York, nor the US of A in particular, but it would make sense game-wise.

Manhattan is an island, that means geographically it would be easy to create natural borders without the use of invicible walls, -that we all hate.

Big city. East Coast. Far enough away from Canada, which somehow has been totally(?) obliterated.

close enough to Waa-shing-toon D.C. -Easy to build on the previous lore.

Comercialism/Economically wise to, because of using old lore, doesn't really need to create new, -just build on old stuff.

New Vegas dissapoint me here.

Canonically the whole world has gone *PooF*, but somehow the area of New Vegas is somehow almost unharmed? Yeah, right.

Siberia and Sahara nonexistant, but good old Nevada still going strong? That's cheap.

The franchise of Fallout suffer from extrodinaire volatility. Either a version is supergood, or/and the next goes superbad. Let's hope FO4 won't repeat the procedure, because then we might never ever experience FO5/6.

Imho, the owners of the franchise should seriously start making some damagecontrol and get the lore cleaned up. Let's start with figuring out if the bombs recently dropped or if it was 200 years ago. Why did they even start using dates? Amateurs. Anyone ever creating a website knows how inane it is to use dating. ref( instead of saying 'I am 36 years old', one should say 'I was born in ´74'. -That way one doesn't need to update the whole site every year.

Fallout 4 have this opportunity. the community and fans are still out there. we're willing to ignore early trials and errors, but if Fo4 gets the same G** D***** bugs over again... ...I think I know what will happen to any followups...

I don't want to sound like a forum vigilante, but there's already a rather long thread dealing with the exact same thing. (well, actually it's more a poll, but it makes no difference)

Over here: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/276344-fallout-4-location-poll/

Edit: Nevertheless, I completely agree with Sandormen's post.

I went back and referred to the forum posts about Fallout 4 design docs and I have a little more info:

-The key location in Fallout 4 will be 'The American Exposition' a world's fair like location, however it was focused only on the US.

-This location will be part of a larger city.

-An old US research ship armed with a weather control device, which was being showcased at the expo will be the titular location (like Project Purity in Fallout 3 and Hoover Dam in New Vegas).

-The Enclave, the BoS and a new group of organized slavers, raiders and caravaneers known as the 'Brokers' will be the main groups the player can support, for bad karma, good karma, and neutral karma respectively.

-The weather control device is active, and on the fritz, causing acid rain one day, snow the next, etc.

-Drivable vehicles, which wear out with use like weapons and apparel will be included.

This is all from some posts on a now closed thread from about six months ago. Can't confirm it or anything.
