Wondering about creature sounds...

Hey all. I've been working on a small mod with a new creature rigged to the sentrybot skeleton. It's working fine as far as I can see, except that sometimes it makes these very loud grinding sounds that I guess are leftovers from the sentrybot.

 

I would normally not care much but it's a bit jarring to have this tiny robot make these loud noises, so I was wondering what I could do. I've already cleared the sounds tab with no luck, so I think the sounds are probably linked somewhere in the vanilla idle animations/locomotion of the sentrybot. Does anybody know? Would I have to go through every animation file to remove something in Nifskope to disable the sounds and then stick everything into a custom folder under creatures?

 

Sorry if this is a bit disjointed but I have a bad migraine today. So if anybody good with creatures can give me an idea, that would be super duper!

Sorry to hear about your headache.

 

I had a quick look in the animation files and couldn't find any sound calls from the text key tracks, so I don't think it's coming from them. When you cleared the sounds tab data make sure you also clear the "Inherits Sounds From". There are some changes you can make in the GECK which the damn thing won't save, so it's best to head into FNVEdit and check that all the sound entries are cleared there.

Hm, I checked in FNVEDIT and it seems like the "inherits sounds from" was indeed still selected, even though I did remove it :pinch: I'll be heading to bed now so I'll test in the morning. Thanks MB! :)

Hm... I checked just now and for some reason it's still making the loud noises :sad:

 

I'm at a loss. If anybody feels like looking at the mod and the creature mesh, I uploaded them here. No textures or sounds included (they're just dialogue beeps).

Well I can't find it buried in the skeleton, the .kf's, or your esp. :confused: Don't know if it will help but you could try making up a new blank audio template and get it to use that.

 

If you still have no luck I can knock you up a new skeleton and anims without too much trouble.
