Model doesn't show up correctly in-game.

I have been having issues with a mod I have been working on and I'm going to describe more because I can't get much help on it.

And after that when I try to equip it, it crashes the game. I don't have much experience with nifskope 2.0, the older version for me was much easier to work with.

If you are interested at looking at my mistake... The mesh and texture are here > https://www.mediafire.com/folder/ozb5aljjsqng5/Data

  • 6 BSLightingShaderProperty must reference a path to a material file in the Name field.
  • 9 BSSkin::BoneData shouldn't be unlinked, I'm pretty sure.
  • There aren't any BSXFlags.

My advice would be to look at another .nif that does the same thing and make yours look like it inside of nifskope.

When I try to add a line it puts it at the bottom and I can't move it.

I tried that and I still had an issue

I haven't messed with armor objects yet, so not sure that I can find the issue.

I will say, the smallest mistake in a nif can break it all. Infact, I had a model not showing up in game, spent hours trying to fix it, only to finally find that I had accidentally left an extra blank space at the end of the material path. a single space, at the very end, broke it.

So, worth being extra vigilant.

Not for nothing, but you helmet looks awesome.

Need to see the text column on the left side of the nifskope file for ppl to help. Idk htf you got to export a NiTrishape from Max, I can only export BSSubindex[something] but never do, I just export an obj with the multimedia & entertainment settings preset, take it into Bodyslide with a helmet reference, size it, copy over the bones, export without reference, go into Nifskope and fix the text[68] field that makes everything Bodyslide exports CTD and name my mesh something like MyHelmet, put in my bgsm reference again...

Maybe you forgot to add the bgsm reference? The material file?* Cause in FO4, in game, the object only uses textures pointed to by the bgsm file. Since you got the textures to show in Nifskope, you may be fooled into believing it will show in game and it WON'T without the material file reference.

But I can't tell with the left side of the Nifskope truncated.

Either way, it's really hit or miss on the forums. Out of a hundred times I asked for help that would also help others, I've received effective help 3 times. Maybe 5 times. Hard to remember when the numbers are so low, and I'm learning keyboards now. It looks like modders still believe they're gonna make money someday from this. It ain't like Daz3d or iClone's marketplace and I doubt it ever will be, but it would be nice. Ppl actually do make some money thru "donations" which is quite surprising to me.

*Oh, and adding a text field for the NiTrishape, you have to highlight the field, go to the bottom window (Block List Details), right click then left click on "edit string index", type in the change, then click ok. You can't just add the txt string directly on the line itself. Also don't worry about the warning that it will change the nif forevererer.

Idk y. Nifskope is designed to be easy for ppl that know the tricks and inscrutable to ppl who don't. Also, the better your stuff looks, the less likely you may be helped (same if you really have no skill at all)...but that's more an impression of an idiot savant counting unconsciously and maybe inferring things that don't exist but, I'm very rarely wrong. Like 6x in 1,000. 1 in 167 times makes no sense to me...
