Converting Type 3 Vanilla Armor to Type 3 Cali

For every solution I find several Problems, Modding is becoming a huge problem for me! XD.

I'd like some ideas or help to push me along and help me to my eventual goal.

My problems are:

I can't get several body textures to be used by 1 piece of armour; where my character would have the same skin as any other wearing the armour.

I can't edit meshes without a crash on G.E.C.K after I've exported it.

I can't dance In Real Life!

Simply put, all I am doing is editing armour from a mod most of us have to suit my preferences and I am hitting far too many brick walls than it's worth. My face now has the consistency of mayonnaise and I keep giving up just to try again 20 minutes later! I need help and it will bloody be great if someone can do so!

Thanks for reading, GOOSE!

What settings are you exporting from blender/3dmax with?

What do you mean several body textures? Are you applying the skin shader correcting?

Here are the settings. By Several bodies I mean I use a seperate race with a seperate body and most companions now have seperate bodies and i would like to make it so the textures of those bodies are still used by my armor like all other armors i download and use do. My character has tattoos and i'd like to see them :P. The reason I am doing this mod is so that whatever I wear it seems realistic and my character doesn't get plastic surgery between changing clothes. D:

Wait I can't see my setting Picture..

Here's a few cents:

General:

1. Don't export with Collision or Hidden Nodes.

Exporting with Collision will attach useless BSX flag properties to your NIF.

If you've hidden objects/meshes in MAX, they probably aren't part of your armor, so you probably don't want to export them.

2. Game under General Options should be set to Fallout 3, not User

3. Don't do SKIN in Max. Its EXTREMELY difficult to get right without constant crashes to desktop, that is unless you're proficient and have had plenty of experience with it.

======> Use Blender to do SKIN. It's a freaking godsend. <======

The Bone Weight Copy script is your best friend in the whole wide world. Click, click, DONE (in 9/10 cases).

4. If exporting from MAX isn't the problem with the crashing, and it's GECK that won't let you preview your meshes without crashing, it means you haven't exported from Max correctly, or you haven't tweaked your mesh in Nifskope properly.

About the Textures:

When you're looking at your armor in NIFSKOPE, any body part that you want the character's body texture assigned to, ought to be set with the SHADER_SKIN "Shader Type" (see capture below).

http://www.morganfavre.com/scrap/nif1.jpg

(they should also have the SF_WINDOW_ENVIRONMENT_MAPPING "Shaders Flag" set)

Any piece of mesh assigned with the SHADER_SKIN "Shader Type" will derive its texture, NOT from theBSShaderTextureSet, but from the wearing characters "Body Data" Upper Body Texture property found in the Character => Race... section in GECK(see capture below).

If you've got character's equipping your armors, and their body textures aren't showing up, but some other texture instead, it probably means you haven't set the SKIN shader properly. If there are any other graphical anomalies on the body parts, in Nifskope, you either haven't selected the correct Shader Flags or you haven't Spells => Batch => Update Tangent Spaces

// End
