Takkonen
I am very new to modding but have been reading quite a bit of information in order to become more proficient at installing, enabling/disabling, adjusting my load order, etc. I have gone through periods of time where I was receiving multiple ctd's and with slight modifications to my fallout.ini, larger address enabler and the removal of some mods, I was able to stop them from occuring. However, I am now having freeze up issues. I can now play for a decent amount of time (sometimes 20-30 minutes) without a freeze up, yet sometimes they become much more frequent. There is no common action I perform that causes the freeze up, so it has been difficult to pinpoint exactly what is causing the problem. I'm hoping that someone here may be more familiar with the mods I am using, and may know of possible conflicts that might be occurring due to my load order/combination of active mods. The current load order I have was auto sorted by BOSS, although I moved the Sydney Follower mod to the bottom as I believe was suggested on the description. There was a reason the header was made to appear as an .esm, but I cannot remember the exact details as to why. Regardless, I don't believe that mod is causing the issue. The mods I have unchecked are mods I either do not want to currently use or were disabled to see if they were causing the issue. So far, the issue continues. Also, I realize the creator of the GaussCompleteBeta said it was obsolete after the completion of EVE, but I was not getting the new visual effects for the gauss rifle so I installed it anyway and it is working. Can anyone give me any advice on this issue? I have tried to provide as much information as possible and would appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks! Takkonen
Oh, I also am using NMC's full texture pack. I downloaded and installed the 3 maximum resolution files as well.
dieyouwill
it has been my experience that placing the bigger, more "game changing" mods at the top of the load order works best. Some people disagree but ive always found that it works better for me. i would start (if i were you) with putting EVE, MMM, and the companions mods more towards the top of your esps. Also, do you know how to use FO3Edit and FO3MasterUpdate to make a merged patch? I don't know exactly what it does technically, but i know it makes your game more stable. if you dont, i can tell you how.

You know, I sort of had the same feeling about adding the more game changing mods toward the top, but after doing the BOSS autosort, I assumed it was not necessary after all. I haven't tried that method since installing a few of them though, so I'll go back and try it. Also, I am not familiar with using FO3Edit or FO3MasterUpdate. I have read about them, and was actually wondering if I should attempt to make a merged patch to see if it would help, but I have not gotten around to seeing how I would do that yet. If you could give me any advice on how to go about doing it, that would be great!
BlackRampage
Eh, actually your load order is just fine as it is. I'd strongly recommend against changing it. BOSS may not always be right about one's load order, but this time it's spot on. But that might be because there's not a lot of mods. In my experience BOSS usually starts getting your load order wrong when you've got way more mods installed. (over 100) Using Fo3 edit:First, get it here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637A "training manual" can be found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8629 Anyway, just install it (to your FO3 directory) After that, you get a new .exe in your Fallout 3 folder called "Fo3Edit".Copy and paste it in the same directory, then rename the copy to: "FO3MasterUpdate".After that, all you need to do is run the new Exe, wait until it's done, close the open window, and, all your .esp's have been .esm-ified.You can check to see if it worked in FoMM too when it suddenly says that the plugin is marked as an .esm or something along those lines.Want to undo the above? Rename another copy of Fo3Edit to FO3MasterRestore and run that as well. Last one: Next time you need to post your load order, don't bother making a screen-save. In FoMM, go to "Load Order". Then click "Copy to clipboard" and you can just copy and paste it in your post instead of having to insert an image in your post.

I found some more info saying essentially the same thing you have so that is good to hear. I'll go ahead and go through the process and see if it helps. I'll return to report on it either way. Oh, and I was initially just going to copy/paste my order out of the text doc, but decided to screenshot it at the last minute for whatever reason. If the effort wasn't so minimal I wouldn't have worried about it, but eh. Thanks again, I'll be back.
Camane
Hi, i don't understand anything about modding and i still can't figure out if the crashes are related to mods or the game itself. I recently started to mod the game (fallout 3), when i got the DLC's, since then the crashes became more common and the game is almost unplayable. Can "please pretty please" someone help me, i can't understand what's missing/wrong, THANKS ;) I got Windows 7 64-bit, FOMM, AII, couldn't install FOSE, and the following (load order report): ________________________________________________________________ Mod load order report! blove
You are running MMM 6.x and FOOK2 1.0 RC(?). That version of the MMM/FOOK2 FOIP is for MMM 5.x. Downgrade your MMM to 5.x or install FOOK2 1.2OB (but you will ahve to start a new game).
Takkonen
Not sure as to why another topic was started within here, but regardless, I am giving an update on my situation. I installed FO3Edit and read through quite a few portions of the manual so far. I went through the steps to make a merged patch and my current load order is listed below. I still am having freeze ups but not nearly as often as before. It is still annoying when it happens as there is no particular action I do that causes it (as far as I can tell anyway). From what I have read, it seems that my load order is fine, so I'm wondering if the issue may be caused by something other than my mods. I see that there are plenty of others who have many many more mods installed than I do and do not seem to have any problems, so it is a bit frustrating, although troubleshooting often is. When I initially made the merged patch and cleaned up my list, the freezing was not occurring, so I installed Fellout, but it seemed to cause issues for some reason, so I removed it. Unfortunate because I would like to use it. Also, just out of curiosity, has there been any known issues with having a larger amount of followers? My plan is to gather up all the followers that you see below and travel with them at all times. Currently I have 4: Lucy West, Bittercup, Charon, and Dogmeat. I'm just wondering if piling up more than 2 followers could possibly cause the issues I'm having. BlackRampage
Not sure as to why another topic was started within hereIt happens. Unfortunately. Anyway, I noticed you suddenly got the streetlights mod. Ironically that's exactly one of the mods BOSS screws up on. Put it under the Zeta.esm instead of between the DLC's. No mods should be allowed above or between the DLC's at any time. More then 2 followers? Well, in the vanilla game you can't even get more then 2 followers, so that's the first problem you've got to tackle. Or have you already? I know just about every one of your mods, but I know of none that resolves the followers problem. If you need an "unlocker" for this, just ask. Aside from the above, the only problem one can run into with having lots of followers is that when you suit them all up in fancy high detail armor, your frame-rate might drop substantially when looking at them. (I've even managed to make the entire game ctd from time to time because of this, but then we are talking about lots of followers.) You still experience freezes but not nearly as often? How often are we talking here? Also, could you post the specs of your rig?
