Adipose Posted April 14, 2016 Share Posted April 14, 2016 Finally got around to playing W3. Not hardcore so playing at easiest level. If earns wimp label, so be it. Game is easily the most satisfactory I've ever played. IMHO, got Skyrim totally whipped...which, a year ago, I'd have said was impossible. Up to level 22. No complaints as yet. Has set bar really high for the competing gaming companies. Be very interesting to see what the next iteration of ES looks like. Far as I'm concerned there's nothing else currently out there that competes with W3...but then I freely admit that I've not played everything. It has a gritty realistic flavor but deftly melds the fantastic with the pitifully mundane and allows them to occupy equally valuable space in its world. A lost shoe in the gutter gets as much notice from me as the textures on a necrophage, and W3 allows an appreciation on so many levels. The high overall quality coupled with the intriguing story would be good enough but the game is beautiful, finding its own style without being cartoonish in any way. One thing I really like is that the game goes right along and will go over your head if you're not a Witcher series nut, and it does so unapologetically. If the player misses the reference, then the player misses it. the games doesn't stoop to hitting the player over the head with a situation until it is obvious. Not only an excellent game with high quality, but a breath of fresh air, surprisingly, in a genre that is well represented by dozens of games. Wolfmod Posted May 3, 2016 Share Posted May 3, 2016 I have several criticisms of the Witcher 3 as I do about anything I care about but my greatest criticism is that it will be very hard to give us The Witcher 4 with these characters that we know and love.
