CTD Every time I try to enter Bannered Mare - MONSTER load order

Recommended Posts

Cannot find the problem. Also crashes when when entering and leaving some buildings in Whiterun, havent tested any other cities. Just became aware of the issue.

Tried verifying game cache, and uninstalling "Better Inns mod" on steam workshop. I also use mods from the workshop "Better towns and villages:whiterun" etc every city. I also use a ton of mods from Nexus.

I have also ran loot a few mods ago, so please dont tell me to "RUN LOOT" unless you see a problem in my load order after combat evolved. Not that all of those mods were added after I ran loot, that's just where I put the last few mods I added, down there.

I've cleaned with TES5Edit what Loot told me to.

I have TES5edit merged patch WITHOUT leveled lists.

I have Bashed patch with leveled lists.

If you take the time to look at my massive load order, and hopefully provide me with what you think may be the problem that would be amazing.

I have memory blocks in place, so don't need SSME downloaded.

Thank you.

Why do players think someone can look at their load order and tell them whats wrong.

Unless it's an obvious thing, it's not like we are going to recreate the load to debug it.

(ok ... I guess that's why)

Same old advice ...

LOOT will not automatically make everything ok ... It will only resolve load order issues.

Some mods conflict with each other and will never work in the same load without an instant or delayed CTD.

There is no way to know what mods are going to be in conflict - other than a painstakingly one by test by one by test installation approach.

Things to keep in mind:

You are using mods put together by amateurs ... there are bound to be problems and this will increase exponentially by the number of mods added.
(programs like TES5Edit are very helpful in spotting some of these problems and the Creation Kit itself)

Just because a mod is working doesn't always mean it's working correctly or is using resources correctly.
(many mods are based off "hacks" or indiscriminately or unknowingly use resources that later conflict with the game or a mod added later)

Many mods over-wright custom and/or game resources that may end up becoming a problem sooner or later.
(I install a custom body mod then remove it ... it over-wrights default files when removed later break the game.)
(one mod installs custom something - mesh, textures, scripts ... an new mod as it installs over-wrights some of them )

As you see there are many things that can go wrong here ... The painstakingly one by test by one by test installation approach
is really your only hope and even then you really have to keep your eyes open for errors.

It's like building a house of cards

In your case you're saying - "I try to enter the Bannered Mare" - this CTD is sometimes caused by to many followers spawning in the same cell ...

I posted my load order because it seems that every time someone has an issue, someone asks them to post their load order. Not because I expected someone to recreate it. But thanks for your reply.

I have inconquensial NPCS and interesting NPCs, both that I have had on before I reinstalled mods and added new ones alittle while back, inwhich neither caused me to instantly CTD when trying to COC or enter Bannered Mare.

I also sometimes crash leaving or entering other buildings in whiterun, actually..

Also, as to your "you're using mods made by amatuers" comment, 85% of the mods I use have thousands of endorsments and tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of downloads, and you can find alot of them on the most endorsed mods of all time. I tend to use the more popular mods in those catagories. That comment is..... wtf?

But thanks for your reply.

Amateur

am·a·teur

ˈamədər,ˈaməˌtər,ˈaməCHər/

noun

plural noun: amateurs

a person who engages in a pursuit, especially a sport, on an unpaid basis.

synonyms: nonprofessional, nonspecialist, layman, layperson;

( 1 million endorsements wouldn't change that ... also every mod maker is at his own level and you have mods made by many mod makers ... it only stands to reason there will be problems)

First things first, I notice you have the "Unofficial Skyrim Patch", but are missing the other patches.

I recommend either getting the other individual patches or getting the new "Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch".

Other Unofficial Skyrim Patches:

Unofficial Dawnguard Patch:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23491

Unofficial Hearthfire Patch:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25127

Unofficial Dragonborn Patch:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31083/

Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71214/?

If you continue to use the standard Unofficial Skyrim Patch - get the other patches and follow this general load order at all costs:

Skyrim.esm
Update.esm
Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp
Dawnguard.esm
Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp
Hearthfires.esm
Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp
Dragonborn.esm
Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp
[Your other ESM files]
HighResTexturePack01.esp
HighResTexturePack02.esp
HighResTexturePack03.esp
Unofficial High Resolution Patch.esp
[The rest of your mods]

If you are going to use the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch then follow this general load order at all costs (after removing the original Unofficial Skyrim Patch):

Skyrim.esm
Update.esm
Dawnguard.esm
Hearthfires.esm
Dragonborn.esm
Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esp
[Your other ESM files]
HighResTexturePack01.esp
HighResTexturePack02.esp
HighResTexturePack03.esp
Unofficial High Resolution Patch.esp
[The rest of your mods]

Now, to the next thing that needs to be sorted:

LOOT should always be run after you install mods, no questions asked. Unless you are capable of fixing the problem yourself, always run LOOT.

I also notice you have a bashed patch. If you are going to use a bashed patch, there are two minimum requirement rules that must be followed at all costs.

1. Always update the patch after every mod installation, and every mod un-installation. Period.

2. The bashed patch always goes at the bottom of your load order.

I'm not sure how everyone else creates their load order file.

This is how I do it and it works great:

(make sure your folders are set to see hidden files)

#1 go to C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Skyrim

and delete the 2 files loadorder.txt and plugins.txt.

#2 run LOOT and apply

#3 manually copy and paste everything but the Skyrim.esm into the plugins.txt file from the loadorder.txt file . <- Highlight everything but the Skyrim.esm Ctrl+C to copy Ctrl+V to paste

#4 run LOOT and apply

#5 manually copy and paste everything but the Skyrim.esm into the plugins.txt file from the loadorder.txt file. <- not sure if this step is needed but i do it anyways.

LOOT will create everything from scratch and it will be perfect it will place all the .esm, .esp and patch files in the correct order.

If you try to "Update" your load order LOOT tends to stick with what it had adding the new to the end (not all mods will do this some have information on mod to mod load order)

But when you start from scratch it always gets it right.

Also on my 1st post I did say ... "Unless it's an obvious thing" (ok ... I guess that's why) ... pardon me for type thinking out loud ... :P
