This is probably going to get buried like nearly all my other posts but what the hell.

 

Someone on reddit mentioned that there was a mod that allowed you to build vertibird turrets in your settlements. When bad guys rocked up to your pad, settlers would jump on said turret and start gunning down the intruders. It sounds pretty cool but as per reddit user policy to not bother replying to questions, he didn't reply.

 

Does anyone know of any mod that allows you to build standalone vertibird turrets?

Sorry mate, but I haven't heard of it. If I had to guess though, I bet it's one of those mods that add stuff to the crafting menu.

This is a mod I'm literally working on, I don't know of anyone else having one though, and mine is not working as yet.

Oh thank f***, the important thing is that I know that someone is at least working on it.

 

Man once the GECK comes out it'll be safe to say that people are going to make mounted M2 brownings, GAU-whatever miniguns and all that

 

it will be absolutely glorious

 

EDIT: Apparently there's meshes in the game files of a tripod mounted minigun...at least you don't have to create custom meshes

I currently have an esp where mounted guns work terribly. There was originally going to be a mounted minigun in the game but it got cut before release. Whenever I try to add it back to the game it behaves horribly and is not practical at all.

At least you got it working, my vertibird will build but it wont take settlers.

By terribly how do you mean? Spinny hat kind of rotating or the gun itself detached from the tripod?

 

There's some really interesting stuff that got cut - there's even frost and fire damage types and there's a mod that restores them. Heck, there's even a mod to restore damage threshold - Bethesda even programmed the AI to flee if their target's DT is higher than their weapon's damage.

 

The only problem is that if your combined DT and DR reduce damage to the point that it becomes negative, it heals the armour. This is only really an issue with power armour but it's probably something that can only be fixed with the GECK or once F4SE has more functionality added.

 

Once mounted turrets become useable I can already see someone thinking of an M2 Browning mod...

At least you got it working, my vertibird will build but it wont take settlers.

 

Mind if look over your .esp? I just might be able to resolve that. My mounted gun so happens to be really prone to assigning settlers.

I haven't touched anything settlement wise in FO4Edit, but doesn't the scavenging station require the player to manually assign someone to it? I'm assuming there's a flag or something similar to prevent AI assignment to it, perhaps that could be used for the mounted gun
