Crahses when entering new cell.

NB: It is not just when I enter/exit a cell. It is more random. For example it can suddenly crash when I aim down the the sights of my rifle.

 

I have experienced crashes when I enter a new Cell in New vegas. It does not happen every time I enter a new cell but at random. Most likely it has something to do with my load order but I do not know what it is. When I installed nVamp I followed this guide: http://risegaming.com/nvamp/?page_id=180 so I do not think it has anything to do with nVamp unless I have done something wrong. But I do not know what decwithreg.esm is. It has been a while since I set up this load order and last played the game. If you see anything that is openly wrong or if you know of a conflict or update that makes this happen (although it can be anything) pleas tell me so I can fix it.

decwithreg.esm is the master file for a mod by David Allen. It is called Decisions with Regrets, hence the name of the esp file. Have you tried using BOSS to set your load order?

I have just now been able to try BOSS after a long vacation. The first thing that changed after running BOSS is that the screen becomes dark every two seconds and a ghoulish guttural scream is heard. I think this comes from my character and I think it is a setting in one of my mods. Does anyone know how to turn it off?

Does nobody know why the screen becomes dark every two seconds? As I said I hear a ghoulish or guttural scream that I think is from my character. It seems to be a something that is activated by a mod that I should be able to turn off. But I do not know what mod the setting to turn this on and belongs.

Turn off ALL your mods.then make a clean save. Then start adding the mods 1 by 1 (or the ones that rely on each other) then see whats causing the problem

The problem started appearing with the latest patch, but it was eventually found to be faulty mods that were the cause.

The authors had accidentally used the 'compile all scripts' button (and patch FormID changes meant that a wrong script was running).

So while 2CoolDays mod will fix the ghoul problem, it is better just to get a fixed versions of the mods that caused it originally, as they will also be overwriting all other vanilla scripts.

Enclave Commander is one that you probably need to update.

Also, grab the ravenmodding replacement of the now very outdated 'Community Bugfix Compilation Patch.esp'.

tunaisafish, I used the Enclave Commander fix you linked to and also installed the newest version of Community Bugfix Compilation. But the game crashes at random. Mostly when I enter a cell. But the ghoulish sounds have been fixed.

 

Any more help would be appreciated.:)

IWS is known to cause crashes after the 1.4 patch. Also, nVamp is WAY behind keeping up with the mods it tries to incorporate. The project is at a standstill, so you may want to get rid of it as well.

Thanks for the tip.

I disabled the IWS mod and all the esp`s that were associated with nVamp. But the game still crashes. So I think the next step is to uninstall the game if nobody has anything new to add.
