dark47
I can make changes to any other game file and the game accepts them without a hiccup (so far), but make one little change to this file, and right away my character is unable to hit enemies or equip firearms. This is irritating as hell, especially since I can't figure out why not. Health regeneration - beep enemy grab chance - beep jump height - beep adding more levels - beep Any change at all to this file - beep I'm using other mods - zipped up into data3.pak and placed properly and no problem. default_levels.xml is a no-go. It's like my character is saying, "Change what you will about the game, but don't mess with me". Irritating. I've played Dead Island and Riptide and the modding is similar and I was able to make changes there that worked without a hitch. Any ideas what's happening here? Anyone? StinVec
Heya. I've made many changes to this file and have never experienced this issue. Can you give an example of a setting's full line with its default value and exactly what you are then attempting to change it to that causes this problem? Also, have you tried making these changes to the file and then only running this file in your Data3.pak without any other modded files to make sure the issue isn't some kind of conflict with another installed mod? One other thing to consider is that the problem may not be related to any of the values you are changing that is causing the issue, but that there may be something else in the file that is causing the entire file to not work properly - like a missing <, a missing /, or there may actually be an invalid value someplace. If you haven't already, you may want to run a quick 'compare' between the original Data0 file and your modified one to see what is different so you can eliminate this as a possibility. Notepad++ with 'NPP Compare' plugin is what I use most of the time for quick comparisons, though WinMerge is also a good choice to view differences between copies of a file. Of course, if you'd prefer to host and send me a version of your file to see if I can help you find anything that could be causing a problem, I'd be glad to help out. dark47
Great! I believe in the attached, I was modifying health regen and jump height (maybe a few more minor things).
StinVec
Awesome. I'll see if I can find anything in the file that could be causing a problem.
StinVec
I started your file as the only file in my Data3.pak and it worked just fine for me and I didn't experience any issues.I then added your file directly to my Data3.pak that has a ton of other mods and my personal mods in it - the file still worked fine for me even with all of those others along side it. My guess would be that the problem is coming from something in one of your other installed mods that isn't one that I am using. I would recommend starting out adding this file and then slowly adding in other mod files and testing until the issue begins so you can see which mod is causing the conflict. However, as the file worked fine for me when it was the only modded file on my game, if you still encounter a problem with the file even when it is the only modded file on your game, then there must be something wrong somewhere else in your game files. Another thing to look into is:As you are using the Data3.pak for adding modded files, make sure there are not any other mods or straggler mod files in your 'My Documents\Dying Light\out' folder that could be conflicting with the mods you are installing via the Data3.pak file. dark47
Good suggestions. Thanks. I've got a couple files in the ....out/settings folder think they may be messing anything up?audio.scrvideo.scr
StinVec
Ah, sorry. I should have specified in an 'out\data' folder if one exists there, not just in the 'out' folder. If you do not have an 'out\data' folder there then you don't need to worry as there aren't any mod files present there. I don't have any ideas of which altered settings in other files could cause this behavior. Your comment about not being able to equip firearms is really odd considering even the vanilla default_levels.xml file has that set as '1'. Q1. Without this file in your Data3.pak with other mods, does this problem still happen?Q2. If you just place a copy of the default_levels.xml file from "Data0.pak > \skills" into your "Data3.pak > \skills" folder, without changing anything in it at all, does it still cause this problem? Just trying to narrow down what could be causing the problem or what other modified file/setting could be causing the problem. Also, any luck on narrowing it down by starting out with just this modified file and then slowly adding and testing other modded files one at a time? dark47
I use this file all by itself and I have the problem, haven't been able to use any other mods.
AnimaMBKzero
Has the solution been found? I have started modifying Dying Light and this file provokes me, in all the ones I have downloaded, the exact same thing happens to me with this file: My firearms cannot be equipped or shot. The bow, when aiming, with a XONE controller, goes crazy and cannot be aimed. The mods I have put in Data3, with everything correctly. PS: StinVec, I really liked your mods :)
