Papyrus log help, CTD

Yes, I have those numbers in the log.

Not sure why but I just got it to play for 2 hours with no crash. The only thing I did was disable the Skyrim HD 2k texture pack and change my Anisotropic Filtering Level from 8x to 4x in Radeon Settings.

So hopefully its fixed... but will find out for sure when I play again.

Thanks for helping...

You know, that's not an uncommon observation. I am compulsive about game reliability and not crashing. I spent a long, long time trying to stop Skyrim from CTD'ing. INI files, load order, conflict patches, mod cleaning; finally got a fairly reliable game. Then Sheson's Patch (the SKSE Memory thing) finally reduced crashes to about one every 40 hrs of game play. I couldn't force a crash in 30 minutes of stress testing.

Then I got a new video card and upped the mod texture resolutions. The CTD's came back. Long (very long) story shortened: I DDSOpt'd all my textures to 1k and normal maps to 512x512. Only looks "okay", but NEVER crashes. Not once, in months of playing a highly modded game (more than one playthrough, in fact).

There is a little talk around mod sites about this, but its hard to find. There are people who have tested it and found smaller textures lead to fewer random crashes. Its not enough to explain the number of CTD's still occuring in a five year-old game (that's from poor modding practices), but smaller textures have a definite impact on game engine reliability, IMHO.

If you get "better" results without the HD packs, you might go further and see if a vanilla optimized 1k texture pack improves things even more (or DDSOpt them yourself). Its entirely possible to have a crash free modded Skyrim. A little difficult to get, but entirely possible.

Good luck.

It's still crashing... Argh...

My spm debug info follows if it helps.

I missed your last post as I've been upgrading to Microsoft's latest spyware release.

<random comment> Once I got it to work how I, not Microsoft, wanted it to work, I tested my games. My only positive experience with Win 10 so far is with the Win 10 AMD Crimson drivers; my frame rate is up almost 10 FPS everywhere. I actually got 60 FPS in Skyrim. Have never seen that before, ever.</random comment>

Sorry the problem is back. At this point, we can do two things: 1) Assume your mods and savegame are okay and keep going, or, 2) Uninstall and test.

1) You have the BIG issues covered; INI files, LOOT, SKSE, and an ENB. If we were to keep going, I would give your game some extra script processing time. The following changes may seem minor, but you should not change these values haphazardly. I have several script heavy mods and my Skyrim.ini file has the following entries in the [Papyrus] block:

[Papyrus]

; Only change the following values in increments of 0.2 at a time. Absolute MAX = 4.0. May impact FPS.

fUpdateBudgetMS=1.4
fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=1.4

; Following entry may be up to 2000 MAX. Will cause a slight load screen delay.
fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=800.0
bEnableLogging=0

bEnableTrace=0
bLoadDebugInformation=0

The changes above are talked about here. EDIT: Changed link to Skyrim instead of Fallout page.

Also, make sure you are running with v-sync enabled at 60Hz somewhere. Most likely, its your ENB settings if you followed STEP.

2) This is a killer. It involves uninstalling loose file mods and disabling all plugins, starting a new game, and making a clean save to add mods to, and checking for mod conflicts. I don't know how to make a clean save with Live Another Life, but I do it outside Helgen Cave after the the start-up scripts complete. It then involves adding one, or a few, mods at a time and checking for conflicts with XEdit and for the CTD's using Vurt's old stress test. It can find some generic CTD's fairly quickly, but I'll warn you now; its a PITA to do this with the number of mods you have.

Thanks GaronII, but I may have found the issue. It seems to be onetweak conflicting with enboost. STEP doesn't recommend onetweak but it does say to use the stand alone double cursor fix which onetweak includes. However STEP mentions not to use double cursor fix if using enboost so I'm thinking there is some conflict here. Or perhaps it's just onetweak itself...

Anyway, I removed onetweak and the crashing is much less frequent. It still happens occasionally though.

I may try the papryus tweaks but I don't think I really have that many script heavy mods.. just claralux and the weather one. But the game does crash when indoors and I'm assuming those scripts are only running when outdoors.

Or maybe I should just leave well enough alone & just try to save more frequently.

Alright, good luck.

I used to have Autosave Manager installed. Its a customizable (MCM) mod which will autosave whenever you tell it to. Was great when I had crashes cause I'd ALWAYS forget to save at the worst possible times (lose random loot I REALLY wanted).

My last advice is to use the one-mod-install-at-a-time method. Its a pain to start with when you have a list of favorite mods, but if you do it consistently you can grow your modlist from a stable base and KNOW things will work together. I also have a lot of luck with Mator's Merge Plugins program. When merging, it tracks and reorders things which can be corrupted by bad edits in a mod which wasn't cleaned properly. And, it lets you add more than 255 (or so) mods by reducing plugin counts.

C ya round.
