Guest Messenjah
I'm not sure how this is being done, and I was wondering if I could get some input on how to do this? I noticed, while poking around for a couple of hours last night that a lot of default references in-game seem to have other references/objects grouped to them? Say, for example I move a lamp and it has several light sources and a fog/mist effect that follow it around. How is this done, how can I ungroup these objects and how can I group them together? chucksteel
you can look up the Hokeys under edit/Render Window Hotkeys. You can even filter the, I just looked up Group and found, Preview Object combination Groups "Ctrl + o"Ungroup References "Ctrl + U"Group References "Ctrl + G" Hope this helps edit sorry forgot to give the keys. Edited April 27, 2016 by chucksteel

chucksteel
Not sure groups work like that but, there are Pack-in's which are collections of objects that can be placed together. I've never created one but I do use the vanilla ones for the track lights. To be honest I haven't used groups all that much. I do use SCOL's a lot but they only work with statics. For that purpose I would either use a SCOL (in CK) or actually group small items using an external program such as Nifskope or Outfit Studio and upload the collection as a single mesh (handy if you want to make it workshop placeable or reuse in multiple mods). Technically though you can copy SCOL's to a new esp file as well using FO4Edit and thus reuse them in other mods. FiftyTifty
Just gonna chime in for a wee moment. Static Collections are actually another form of static batching in the game; punt all of your level's unscrappable and unmovable objects into a static collection, and you got yourself some pretty damn nice performance gains.
