There are multiple threads for this so far, but since this is the first, iguess ill post here.

I updated Fallout 4 yesterday. As was to be expected my mods didnt load. I searched the Forums, found this thread, updated NMM, started fallout--> voila, mods loaded. Played, closed the game, opened again later--> Mods dont work. NMM is up to date, also tried to add *s in the plugins.txt, which screwed up my NMM load order but didnt help in loading any mods. Anybody got an idea what else might be the problem?

Answer to: Mods being disabled every time - or asterisks being removed. Same thing. You need to set your plugins.txt file to read only AFTER activating all of your mods, (Activating the mods in NMM puts in the asterisks for you)

To find the plugins.txt C:\users\Your user name\Appdata\Local\Fallout4\ Right click,on plugins.txt, left click on Properties and put a check in the box that says read only then click apply and then OK

Once I enter the Game I have to reactivate all the mods. So MAybe I will try activating them in game then marking the folder read only... the thing is the .txt is still marked read only even after alt tabbing out .

On this thread , for newbies only. [Like me!]

After patch at the end of April, spent an hour tinkering with .ini files.

With no results.

Only got mods to work , again , by clicking 'play'

[blue tab in the top left of Steam page, not play in the menu this brings up.].

And then re-installing mods on Nexus page.

This has been a solid fix for me.

I've also had some serious problems. I finally ended up disabling all my mods and started over by enabling them 5 at a time staring with CBBE. The most important ones I checked to see if there was a updated version. I also thinned out my mods and removed the ones I no longer use.

I found that DEF-UI was giving me heartache and had to remove and reinstall without the HUD part otherwise I would CTD every time.

Another thing I noticed was that I would start the game and suddenly receive a message that the game was starting without a bunch of mods, as though I had disabled them in the load list. The only way out was to quit immediately and go back and disable and enable a random mod. I used one that changes Cait. After I disabled and enabled a mod the game would start normally. This surprisingly seemed to happen after installing new mod, even though the new mod seemed to install without problems.

It may have something to do with the load list disappearing until you cycle a mod.

Remember to export the load list occasionally when you get the game to load.

This has taken me several nights of work but I think I'm there. Unfortunately I went into FO4 mods meny and the game crashed on the way out.

Good luck to everybody out there having load problems.

BTW, I lost two guns , an M9 .38 cal and a 1911 .45 cal. I only found them after going back to an earlier save from before the update. Weird considering all the gun mods were in place and my other modded guns showed up.

I don't know if anyone found a solid fix for any of this, but I have tried just about every possible fix I can find on the internet, across YouTube videos, Steam forums, NMM forums, random gaming forums.... 6 hours and I can't get mods to load. The ONLY time they load is when I load them from within the game's mod menu and then not all of them work.

Does ANYONE have a suggestion??
