someguynamedjoe
It's going to be a player base, supposedly. That really piqued my interest, but at the same time, I have concerns. Remember in Mothership Zeta for Fallout 3 how you became the de facto owner of the mothership at the end? It wasn't even worth the trouble, because in the end, all you had were two rooms with no bed, a ton of dead alien bodies, and two 'roommates' (of course, this was rectified with the epic Fallout 3 mod Mothership Zeta Crew, but that's not the point). I'm worried we might see the same thing happen with the Sink, even though it will be 'upgradable.' On the other hand, a player home in the Big Empty will certainly be irresistible to modders, and we might even see the same level of enthusiasm in modding it that we do with the Lucky 38 suite, etc. What are your predictions/thoughts/etc.? Gishank
It is? If so then I'm quite interested. The thing is, the devs have always listend to the community so it can be assumed that they will provide us with decent content. :P
tnu
I'm very excited about this myself I think you could use The Sink as a base to start your own faction and it would have its own Mothership Zeta Crew style mod to it.
huntsman2310a
I don't think the sink will be used as a base for a custom faction since, well......its a small bunker, upgradeable but only meant for a handful of people. Besides from a practical point of view, its not very wise to have your base situated in the remains of a hostile research facility, patrolled by Robotic animals and crazy robots. But if I had a custom faction to start here, I would make Muggy my second-in-command.
marharth
Mothership zeta sucked. You have a f***ing alien ship with a cannon that can blow up the entirety of DC, why do you leave it in control of some random kid and leave? I would have preferred to be able to land the ship on earth, but whatever. It may be a small bunker, but the entire area would be great for a faction. It would be awesome if you could make your own faction with Yes Man and use it for your base, but the chances of that happening are unlikely. someguynamedjoe
A custom faction at the Big Empty would be amazing. Imagine being able to use Yes Man's software or something similar to gain control over the robots. All you would need is to transmit a reprogramming signal, somehow. Deleted1744345User
After playing through several hours of OWB, I can safely say that the Sink does not suck and does not come close to sucking at all. It even puts some player homes to shame on the Nexus, though that is not a tremendous feat. If people are going to start modding this like Goodsprings though, I won't be too happy (conflicts of epic proportions).
ccronin
It's pretty nice as a base, save for one crucial flaw-- the Sink Central Intelligence Unit never restocks. As ammo is bloody hard to come by in the first place, I had to make a lot of the ammo myself, which is bloody obnoxious, and I also ran out more than a couple times, meaning my stealth/guns build had to use energy weapons. Come on now. I know that HH was totally guns-focused, and OWB is more on the energy weapons side, but couldn't they have left a few clips lying around for my shiny new 1911? steamtacular
Honestly I wouldn't mind a faction being built in the big empty. Perhaps a settlement and a university?
someguynamedjoe
The ending of OWB certainly gave the impression that the Courier used the Big MT's technology to affect the Wasteland. Depending on karma, the Courier either sounded like the Wasteland's conqueror who used science as a weapon, or the Wasteland's savior who used science to 'bring hope.' I'd certainly like to see a mod that lets you decide exactly how that happens. That almost sounds like you can effectively create a fourth major faction, in addition to Vegas, NCR, and the Legion.
