disastrox3
I recently had gotten the Point Lookout DLC for FO3. I have the 1.7 patch, and no fake/unofficial patches. I've done quite a bit of searching and can find no direct resolution. Hopefully, I can find one here. Basically, whenever I travel outside of the Capital Wasteland and head to Point Lookout, the swamp and ocean water vanishes; leaving just the ground textures so it doesn't even look like there's water at all.I still get the SFX from the water being there: I can hear it. Objects still float/hover as if they were in water, I still get rad sickness, it is possible to swim in it, and there is water distortion when I shoot at the ground. Another thing: Whenever I go into caves/portal areas, the water textures show up. I could see the water in the bog, etc. However when I go into the "mainland", the water vanishes, leaving a ton of floating objects (like boats and garbage) and no swamp. How can I fix this? :( Edited July 14, 2011 by disastrox3
BlackRampage
Well, I do have a hunch, but without a load order I won't know for certain. Could you post your load order please?

BlackRampage
Wow, sorry to say it, but that's a bit of a messy load order. Are you using BOSS or a similar program to sort your mods? If not, get BOSS Here to sort out your mods. 1 thing which you do have to change in your load order after you used BOSS is putting the Streetlights.esp between the Anchorage esm and the Broken Steel esm After you've done that, see if the PL problem still persists. If it doesn't you'll have to find out which mod is causing causing the water to disappear. How? First disable all your mods then enable them 1 by 1 each time checking in-game if the problem has returned. Naturally any of your mods which change something in PL are the most likely sources of the problem.
disastrox3
Alright, will try that. It is a bit messy, I give you that. :) Heh. EDIT: It's not working. Have gone through my files. Texture is still missing. :c Edited July 15, 2011 by disastrox3
BlackRampage
EDIT: It's not working. Have gone through my files. Texture is still missing. :cEven when you disable all mods? And did you run BOSS to tidy up your load order?

BlackRampage
Ah, you only just got the PL dlc then? Why didn't you just get the game of the year edition? It has all dlc's already in it. (including Zeta and the Pitt) It might be possible that it's installed wrong anyway. The fact that everything else does works has little do with it. Jeoshua
One of your mods made changes to the Point Lookout worldspace. In there, there is a flag that was not set in the worldspace, specifically called Unknown:7 and introduced by the 1.7 patch. You do have the 1.7 patch, don't you? Of course you do, moving on. I'm sorry to say there is no easy fix. Your best bet is to load up ALL of your mods in fo3edit at the same time. Then, open the Pointlookout.esm file and find the WRLD entries. Open up 04000802 - DLC4PointLookout - Point Lookout. This is, basically, what you will see:http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/images/637-1-1309474934.png To fix your problem, drag the Data - Flags column to each mod that is overwritten in the right hand window. Fo3edit will ask if you're sure. You will be. Click yes. Drag and drop this info into every file which overwrites the DLC4PointLookout worldspace. Save and quit. This will fix the problem with the missing water. But it won't clean the dirty mods that caused it. Look closely at all your point lookout mods and see if any of them have WRLD entries when they don't actually edit anything on the map. This is a good sign that the mod author didn't know that they needed to clean their mods before releasing them, and is a very bad sign. Those mods need to either be cleaned up, if you can figure out how, or removed from your game because they're sloppily done. edslerson
Wow thanks for the help Jeoshua. I did exactly what you said in fo3edit and it worked like a charm. It actually was a very easy fix too just basically drag drop and save
