bayharman
Greetings, I am BayHarman, author of Modding Tutorials. I am in the process of creating tutorials, and once again would like to know, what tutorials do you want made? Please leave a comment and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.Thank You
LHammonds
Thanks for taking your time to create tutorials for the community. Would you be interested in creating wiki versions of the tutorials on the Nexus Wiki or allowing others to convert them for you? As for tutorial suggestions, that kinda depends on your skill sets really...unless you are learning the process yourself and documenting as you go. Some big topics that could always use more tutorials are things like different UV unwrapping methods for Blender and how/when to use them. Or tutorials covering the different rigging methods in Blender and how/when to use them. Thanks,LHammonds
bayharman
Well, I have considered it, and maybe I will, I just can't find where to upload them. If You could give me the link, I would be very grateful. Funnily enough, the blender topic is still something I am learning, but I am very good with the CS. Thank you for taking the time to comment. LHammonds
The main page has two links at the bottom that tell you the posting rules and how to search/create new articles. Beyond that, you can look at other articles, click the EDIT button to see how they coded their page...such as the categories used, header formatting, bold, etc.
bayharman
I found it, thank you very much. I will consider converting them, though I see no benefit toit.
LHammonds
The benefit is that it will be seen by many more people than just having it attached to a Nexus page. Wiki tutorials are much easier to find because search engines can read and index them. They also have the benefit of being updated and kept current even if you leave the scene. Those browsing the wiki (using the categories or search) are also more likely to stumble upon it than as a PDF on a Nexus mod page. With all the articles on a wiki site, they can all be downloaded and saved for offline use, even if the wiki/mod site disappears. Example. darko870
Do you think you could do a tutorial on custom races? I'd also like to learn how to create my own vampire mod, a tutorial on that would be great.
bayharman
Thank you LHammonds, I will do it. As for 'custom races', do you mean retexturing a race, creating new shapes for the head and such, or importing a race someone else made?
LHammonds
I would think that there would need to be at least two different race creation tutorials. One for the purpose of creating a new race purely with just the CS and nothing else as a "base" for the main how-to procedure...then another one (or more) for adding additional content. Next phase could be just a re-texture project...next phase could be adding new meshes...maybe even split further based on what is being added: New hair, new eyes, new head, new teeth, new body, etc. The base tutorial would cover such topics as not modifying any of the existing races unless you plan to make your mod incompatible with any other mod that modifies those races. If kept modular, it would help focus on one area at a time. It will also allow the tutorial author to stop making additional modules without fear of the entire project going to waste.
