In my dreamland-scenario I find myself viewing this from above, and realise that the defender is in fact a scantily-clad anime chick (who'd have guessed...? ;) ), and both the murderer AND the snake are present.

 

2 heavily-censored scenes later and the anime chick is free to escape having smexed both of her antagonists to death, and is therefore able to remove the impossibly-hidden bazooka the murderer was carrying. :whistling:

Are you sure you would pick the snake over the murderer? The murderer can snap your neck and you are dead pronto, but snake poison, when administered to humans, will not kill you for at least 20 minutes (black mamba), and the bite of the most poisonous snake (not counting certain sea snakes), the taipan will kill you in about 45 minutes. Life is not like movies where somebody is bitten by a snake and drops dead a few seconds later.

Human beings are a lot less predictable then a snake though, you don't know whats going to happen if your stuck with a murderer.

 

Depending on the mentality and if the murderer has weapons, it could go a lot worse for you then a snake bite.

 

For a snake bite, there aren't many other factors to take into consideration.
