wuwuwuwuwu
Now that the CK is released, did someone check already how settlement happiness gets calculated? Or did someone even release a fix for the wonkiness of the happiness? Currently the happiness of my settlement The Slog is dropping, eventhough I have enough water, enough to eat, a supplyline to all other settlements, twice as many beds as needed, 250+ defense, a bar, a doctor, a trader and a clothing store. I even made sure that there are no enemies close by, eventhough I walled off the entire settlement. It kinda kills the fun for me if I have to hunt down buggy reasons for happiness loss and generally being forced to babysit all my settlements. Melviclilith
The key to happiness is to crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentations of the women. ..... Wait that's not what you were asking. But anyway, I don't know too much about it. But in my case, less seems to be more. I have just enough beds for all the people that live at my settlements, a little more than just enough food and water, and double that number for defense, all the shops, clean up all the random clutter, ect. The happiness has never maxed out at any of the settlements, but does seem to hover around 85 or so.

I got to 100% by literally staying put, sleeping, watching the score creep a little higher, sleeping again, and repeating until 100% is reached. (Once all the other absurd requirements were also met I mean.)
mwhenry16
If giving them all Mina outfits, the best weapons, super defenses, food and water isn't enough, screw 'em. Heck, I even use the Happy Maker jukebox, and it still drops once in awhile.
wuwuwuwuwu
The Happy Maker Jukebox? I read about the jukebox raising the happiness, but I just found one to build and that one isn't raising the happiness.
ddavies10693
Also note that pre-placed beds can cause glitches with the happiness as well. For example, there are like 5 (?) at the slog before the player even gets there. When it becomes a settlement, it will say there are 5 beds, but for some reason, the NPCs don't fully recognize these as beds, so the happiness drops even though the settlement interface counts them as beds. Long story short, whenever you have a new settlement with pre-placed beds, store them in the workshop (or scrap them I guess) to get it to 0 beds, then replace them all. Not sure if that's been patched, but it's been a problem within the game for quite some time.

RaffTheSweetling
(Once all the other absurd requirements were also met I mean.) What are those requirements? These are some of the things I remember - Must have tons and tons of decorations. Around 40-50 paintings does the trick. Plus statues, and jukeboxes and televisions. Must have beds indoors, far from generators. Must have highest-tier vendors (Clinic Vendors work best). Must be a large settlement. So this means that you need to have the build-limit meter in the yellow. (this is the requirement for the "Benevolent Leader" achievement anyway.) You only need 5 settlers, and 6 beds. 5 beds for your settlers, and one for yourself. You only need 6 Mutfruit trees providing food. With one settler farming and the other 4 working top-tier clinic stalls. There may be one or two details I missed, but once you have all this stuff in place, you'll see the meter going up. Sleep for around a day, then wait, for me I saw the meter raise by 2 points within a couple of minutes. Then go back to sleep and repeat. Don't leave before you get to 100% or the meter will begin to drop. Hope that helps.

Plus statues, and jukeboxes and televisions.I've read that televions cause a bug that greatly diminishes the value of some resources, like showing 0 beds while you are away from your settlement, despite there being enough beds. Was that fixed or is there a way around that bug? I don't want to go for the achievement, I just want my settlements to be at a high, stable happiness value. What is the best setup to reach that?
