How do you edit the weight of ammo and bottle caps?

I’m so sorry to come with what must be quite a simple question, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to do this.

I don’t like how Fallout 3’s lone wanderer can essentially carry an unlimited amount of ammo on their person. I’d like to edit it; perhaps 0.1 weight for a 5.56mm round? Maybe 0.2 weight for a shotgun shell? Something like that. But unlike other items that have an easy-to-edit-weight by right clicking on the item in the object window, I can’t seem to do this for ammo. Is there another way to do it? Is it possible to do this in the GECK?

I also want to edit the weight of bottle caps as I don’t like them being weightless either. Again, perhaps 0.1 weight. But I can’t even find them in the GECK. I can find the bottlecap mine, bottlecap mine schematics, the projectile, the explosion, but not the bottle caps themselves. Are they under a strange name? If I can find them, is their weight easy or even possible to edit?

Any help will greatly appreciated.

You need this:

Weight Rebalance

Adds a ton of weight changes, as well as adding weight to items that had none.

this:

AmmoWeight

This should have an extra non-ammo esp in the download which contains weighted caps (WeightMisk.esp)

and this:

Displayed Ammo Weight

Amends the way ammo weight is presented in the pipboy and requires the Ammo Weight mod, I believe.

You should end up with list like so:

WeightRebalance.esp

WeightMisk.esp

WeightAmmo.esp

DisplayedAmmoWeight.esp

Be sure to read the readme's!

Even if you don't need all those changes, a little analysis in FO3Edit should indicate what you need to change.

Aw that’s good stuff! Thank you very much and kudos for directing me to these. I’ll try them out asap, but the Weight Rebalance Mod might clash with my own mod as I’ve edited most of the weights of stuff myself. I’ll leave that one for now.

Is there a way to edit the weight of ammo and bottle caps manually? There seems to be a way to do it for New Vegas, but as a fella who still hasn’t got it, I’m still finding ways to entertain myself with the original.

I swear the things some people do with mods is fantastic.

Well, for bottle caps, break open the Geck, check off Fallout3.esm and in the Object Window navigate to Items>Misc Item. Find and double click the "Caps001" item, a window will open with a "Weight" box which you can edit (the WeightMisk esp I mentioned sets this at 0.01). Same goes for any other items weight you want to edit.

Note: A value of "1", is generally accepted (I believe) to be equal to 1 pound (lb) in weight.

As for Ammo, there doesn't appear to be any editable data that represents weight - which is why some clever fellows went about writing the scripts found in the aforementioned mods. I would save yourself some time and just use these ammo mods to be honest, the (quite small) values seem reasonable enough. :)

"Caps001" I'm such an idiot. Thanks.

It's a shame one can't edit ammo weight easily, but I'm sure it'll be cool if I use those ammo mods in combo with my own modest mod. Once again, thank you. :-)
