Guinefort1
My CS has abruptly decided to stop working last night, and I have no idea how to fix it. See the image below to see what is going on. This crashing happens each time I open up a mod (it doesn’t matter which one) in the CS. Some computer specs: Windows 764-bit I checked out this thread on TES Alliance which seems to describe a similar problem, but it has proven unhelpful:http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/5065-oblivion-construction-set-crash-on-start/ For the record, my game and CS are installed in the Local Drive C:/Games, not the Program Files (x86). And I know that my hardware specs can handle the CS since I’ve been modding on this thing for years now. The only possible lead I seem to have is that this crashing started after I did an AVG-prompted computer restart to activate the identity protection. I have no idea if the AVG restart was the cause or not (and uninstalling AVG to test that is enough of a hassle that I’d rather avoid it unless I know it’s the problem). Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Guinefort1
Update: I went ahead and bit the bullet, as it were, and confirmed that AVG 2016 is causing the CS to crash, as it works just fine if AVG is uninstalled. I was afraid of this being the case, as I had hoped this would be a simpler fix, like a misplaced .dll file or something. This is beyond what most on this site can address, so I'm off to pester AVG now. Thanks to everyone who read my post.
Striker879
Years ago I was an AVG customer (used the full meal deal $70 package). I finally got tired of all it's interference and switched to Kaspersky. It hasn't been 100% letter perfect to get along with but has been light years ahead of my AVG experience. Didn't want to point fingers before, but you've come to the same conclusion my prejudice against AVG had me jumping to in your OP.
