fallout 4 styled leaning with gun sights

Just wondering if its possible, I know there are some mods on the nexus that already do the leaning feature However you have to press buttons to make it activate the lean which can be very annoying. While on the other hand the fallout 4 system lets the player choose to lean when the cross hairs spin. This is usually when the player is close to an object when the gun is drawn and it takes a couple seconds then the player leans around corners and such to get a better angle on the target he or she wishes to shoot.

Do you mean the cover system?That isn't leaning.It just slides you to the side when you aim your gun and then slides you back to were you were originally standing when you stop aiming your gun.Personally,I though that FO4's cover system had some problems.For example,you couldn't open doors and aim your gun at the same time,which can be pretty important when you deal 2x the damage but take 2x the damage as well,and sometimes you'd pop out at the wrong end of cover.

 

I don't know if FO4's system is possible in NV,but I don't think so.There was a mod that added actual leaning where you would press Q and E to lean to a side,similar to STALKER.Sadly,that mod was taken down.

That makes much more sense to me, as there are a lot of attack animations for various categories of weapons (multiplied two times for sneaking) so it would be a ton of animations if you were actually changing the KFs. Not to mention they'd have to be replacers without some black magic voodoo (we don't have the extra "slots" open that would be needed).

Any chance you could recall further details. I might be able to find it somewhere else and at least examine the mechanics behind it.

It was called True Leaning by Xilandro.He removed the mod to merge it into his bigger project called Project 43.

While Xilandro's True Leaning did work, it had no way to prevent player to use leaning to clip through geometry.
Basically, you could use it to lean through locked doors and take item that are within your reach.

yeah, it did work but it was rather clunky in design. As it made the player use buttons on the keyboard to lean that the player would not normally use. Your mentioning of the clipping through walls was also a very exploitable system.
