Cyberweasel89
Yeah. Hi. Whenever I tell one of my companions to wait, they do so. But the moment I leave the cell they're in, such as going through a door to another area of a building, they automatically fire themselves back to their hiring positions. It also does this if I tell them to wait somewhere and walk just a few yard away, even if it's in the same cell. Any idea what's causing this? I don't add any new mods lately. It just started doing this a week or so ago, and I can't figure out why...
GothikaGeist
Is this a vanilla companion or a mod one?
Cyberweasel89
Vanilla. Specifically, ED-E, though I'm sure it affects all vanilla companions. My only guess is something happened with the last Patch to cause this.
GothikaGeist
Yeah, the last two patches changed up the AI Packages for companions. If they are vanilla and unmodded. Then I dunno what you can do.
Cyberweasel89
Crap... What's the point of telling them to wait if they won't wait more than two feet from me? So how does everyone else cope with this?
GothikaGeist
I actually, don't have this issue. As a matter of fact, it's the first time I've even heard of it. Have you modded ED-E or other vanilla companions recently? Edited July 17, 2011 by GothikaGeist
Cyberweasel89
Nope. It only started after I got the newest Patch. And I haven't added any new mods since then to have caused it.
GothikaGeist
Try validating your files with Steam.
Cyberweasel89
Okay. How do I do that? Never even heard of doing something like that.
maboru
Validating never hurts but you may find a continual one file needed then downloaded again and again. This has been happening to me since 1.2 though it usually never affected gameplay. I had a similar problem to yours after the 1.4 patch too. I went back to HQ to drop off NV Jessi and Veronica, told them to wait, left the building and there they were next to me again (Jessi sitting on an imaginary chair!). I found no way to correct it (had to start a new game) and later found out that the changes they made with the last two patches (that forced them to revise the GECK) are causing many companion problems. I was surprised that it would effect the vanilla companions too but that's probably because I picked them up before the last two patches. I'm afraid we'll just have to wait it out until some one figures out a solution (nothing I've done works so far and I haven't found any other solutions yet.) (And not for lack of looking!) [Oh, log on to Steam, go to Library, right click Fallout New Vegas, left click Properties, left click on Local Files, Left click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache and let it do its thing.] Edited July 17, 2011 by maboru
