I have Fallout 4 now up and running with the new patch. Also, all mods seem to work.

However, when I add the following lines to Fallout4Custom.INI, ...

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
... as required by the NMM, the game crashes to desktop immediately before entering a save or a new game (ie I can start Fallout 4, give the order to start a new game or to lad an existing one. It also starts loading for several seconds, but immediately before putting me into the game world: CTD!).
The crash is definitely caused by the lines above. If I do not add them to the Fallout4Custom.INI (or also the Fallout4.INI, effect is the same, I tried it), the game loads smoothly.
Has anybody an idea what causes this and how it can be changed?
At any rate, what is the purpose of the lines which NMM asks me to add to my INI? Will mods maybe also work without it?

I have this exact same issue. I've tried everything and the only way I can get my primary save which has over 4 days of playtime logged is by deleting those lines which in turn disables all of my mods.

It is not only that you cannot launch an old save, it is also impossible to start even a fully new game. With these two lines, the game crshes just the second before my face in the mirror would start to show up in the intro.

Same here. Bethesda just f***ed up! I am so annoyed by deinstalling and deleting... But i think it´s not these lines, its more the fact that deleting these lines cut the mods out aswell.

Does anyone know if the Archive Validation can be done manually, given that the integration into the INI does not seem to work?

I have the same issue. I Have not fixed the issue, but so far have improved on it. I deleted the three .ini files in the fallout 4 folder located in the my documents. if i deactivate all mods I can play vanilla again. If i activate mods in mods section of main menu i can then load a saved game with mods active (there effects) but no visual meshes. I am a bald floating head and pipboy... and the game will CDT after about 2 min.

The above is accomplished with no modifications to the .ini file. Also I looked at Bethesda.net. The have 2 of the 98 Mods I use ( most of them aesthetic) up on their site. Very poor form on their part imo.

Thanks Lonewolfz. That worked for me. I wish I could use pleasant UI, though. I like my UI to be small. Anway, I appreciate your help.

This did not fixed my crashing. It did however fix a weird bug where everything was prefixed with a "$", which I'm assuming as a string empty variable state.
