Topher1
I am not sure what is causing it but I am getting a crash to desktop when I try to exit the sewers. I installed Alternative start mods and when I go to sleep to enter the game world I get a CTD then as well.It shows the loading screens, loads fully, then it goes black and says Oblivion stopped working. My mod list is as follows: Oblivon.esmFrancesco's Leveled Creature-Items mod.esmFrancesco's Optional new items add-on.esmFrancesco's Optional new Creatures add-on.esmToaster Says Share V3.esmToggleable Quantity Prompt.espDLCShiveringIsles.espDLCHorseArmor.espCapesandCloaks.espextavegant masks.esptda_Scythemodv1.2.espUnlimited Wear.espFrancesco's Optional Files.espApachii_Goddess_store.espApachii_Heroes_Store.espza_bankmod.esp (Bank of Cyrodiil)Borderless_Cyrodiil-3578.espBlood Elves.espToaster Says Share Faction Recruitement.espKT_CustomRaceFix.espFrancesco's Day length rescale 1-16.espEvantal's Dual Wielding.espOblivions god of the sea.esp (Boss Monster in water)ATakesAll.espAlternative Beginnings.espDMC Stylish - Specialanims.esp I Also have DarNified UI 1.3.2 installed. I checked for Conflicts and am apparently running conflict free minus the two Apachii stores conflicting. But even getting rid of them didn't help.Faulty Oblivion Install perhaps?I am sort of getting sick of re installing Oblivion so much and getting new mods that seem to cause some kinda problem at some point. If anyone has a fun working mod load order they could post I'll be more then willing to go and download them all knowing it will at least work. Fun to me is new places to explore, dungeons to crawl, boss' / monsters to kill. So any help would be appreciated.Or even your own load orders and mods. I am open to really anything seeing as I just want to kill time when I'm bored.I heard there is a site where you can upload your load order and just copy paste it here. Not sure what it's called I just typed mine out.
MShoap13
Have you modified Oblivion.ini in any way, or renamed your shader packages to force SM 3.0? If so, try it without these tweaks. I heard there is a site where you can upload your load order and just copy paste it here. Not sure what it's called I just typed mine out. BOSS will alter your load order and then upload it to a temporary html file you can C&P from. Edited July 19, 2011 by MShoap13

Only edit since then would be the border remover which I'm assuming changes it.Besides that nothing has been altered, just added some mods and once again things went south for me. I used boss to arrange my mod list, didn't know it saved a copy like that though, thank you.
Oddball56
Disable the bashed patch and see if this changes anything.
eric31415
The most common cause of this type of crash is insufficent video hardware or RAM. When you exit the sewers, you enter a game world that is extremely taxing on computer resources. Could also be a lot of other things, posting your machine's specs, operating system, game version, and the filepath to which the game is installed will help us get to the bottom of this. Did it work before adding mods?
schmitbi2
I am having this problem also on a new Asus G73SW-A1. I am running windows 7 and just updated the video driver because I read about that in another forum but it did not help. I used Wyre and disabled all mods and made a Breton and tried to exit sewers and it still crashed. I can work around by importing characters onto saved games downloaded outside of the sewers and the game runs ok. I did not test a clean install I only tested after I installed FCOM only and it crashed. I noticed he had some Franco's mods. I know FCOM doesn't normally do this because I had it installed on a machine running XP and it never did this.
eric31415
@schmitbi2; You can rule out hardware issues, nice machine (i also use an ASUS laptop, not as sweet though). If you CTD on sewer exit, but can load a save made outside, you probably have a problem with a mod initializing. Many mods won't activate till you exit the tutorial dungeon. Use BOSS to check your load order. Take a look at This guide to make sure you installed FCOM properly. If the game is installed to the default path with Win 7, the User Account Controls will cause all sorts of wierdness in-game. Create a C:/Games/Oblivion filepath and install it there. My ASUS came with an antivirus called Trend Micro. If you have this, ditch it. It caused many CTDs with Oblivion. I use Kaspersky now with no problems. I assume that you have the 64 bit version of Win7, if so, get the most from your machine by using the 4gb patch to raise Oblivion's self-imposed 2gb cap on RAM usage. Also; whatever antivirus you use, make sure you add Oblivion to your list of trusted applications and set it to not scan files on open. Not doing this can cause major loss of FPS, and crashing. If you use a program like Game Booster, make sure to add it also. Edited July 20, 2011 by eric31415
schmitbi2
I have been messing with this all night long and I have made some progress. Basically since I was pretty sure FCOM is a reasonably solid mod and installed correctly I started messing with all the video options. I realized that the game was crashing only outside the capitol city where all the water is because I could fast travel to other cities and the game would not crash but I could not exit the capitol. I set video settings to min and was able to exit sewers. I have a good system but maybe it needs another patch to be able to run all the water reflections and maxed shadows. I hope this helps. schmitbi2
I used BOSS, and don't have the virus protection you are talking about. I read that the 64 bit systems didn't need to patch to use more ram, is that false? I will download and run it anyhow. Thanks for feedback. I had installed in a different drive, just for any one else's reference.
eric31415
@schmitbi2 Regardless of 32 or 64 bit, Oblivion will only use 2 gb RAM. But you need a 64 bit system to take advantage of the 4 gb patch. This has to do with the limitations of 32 bit vs. 64 bit addressing.
