BroDragon
I just started using mods when Fallout 4 came out and though I had some trouble getting started the results were very much worth it, a big thanks to all the modders out there. Now I'm dealing with V1.5 and frankly I'd rather stick with NMM than go 'corporate'. I have two questions. First, what is LOOT for and how do I use it? Second, how do I get my mods to automatically update when a new version comes out? I have my settings set to check for updates every three days, is that just for NMM? Is there something involving profiles that I'm unaware from? Thanks!
bben46
Nexus does not auto update mods. The reason is not every update will apply to your game. Some mods on Nexus have multiple versions that are mutually exclusive. Others have things like a built in patch for a mod you may possibly not use - auto updating either of these would cause either the mod not to work or crash. NMM does have a feature to allow you to check for new versions so you can make the decision on whether to update or not. Loot is a 3rd party program used to set load order for mods. Some mods need to be loaded before others. For most it really doesn't matter. The help for loot is in a tab on LOOT itself. under the 'Unofficial Tutorials'' tab. The stable version of LOOT does not yet fully support FO4 as FO4 is still in a constant state of change. In order to use LOOT with FO4 you will have to use what is called a snapshot build. These are updated very often and are expected to have bugs.Loot site: https://loot.github.io/ The snapshot builds are NOT recommended for neophytes as they will have bugs. They are intended for users who are willing to help the LOOT team fix problems. There will be no immediate help for those problems as they are intended for troubleshooting only.https://www.dropbox.com/sh/scuvwwc6ovzagmd/AAD1TodBAwGQTuV1-4Z2d0sCa?dl=
