Launius Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I want to be able to play around with some models for Fallout 4, but I haven't really found a definitive answer as to how. I don't have any problem importing Skyrim .nifs, but I get an error everytime I try to import a Fallout 4 .nif. I know I can create from the ground up, then export in .obj, then use BodySlide and Nifskope and so on, but is there a way that I can get Fallout 4 .nif files into a modeling program? From what I've read, there isn't a plugin for Blender that supports Fallout 4 .nifs yet, and as far as 3ds Max, if there is a plugin, it seems to be very elusive. In other words, is there an import .nif plugin for either Blender or 3ds Max that supports Fallout 4 and if so, anyone know where I can get it?
Launius Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) That is the plugin I'm using for Max, but I get an error when I try to import a FO4 .nif. String too long. Not a NIF file or unsupported format?Got any idea what it is I'm doing wrong?Edit: For the record, I seem to be able to import skyrim .nifs without any problem. Edited May 7, 2016 by Launius
Launius Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 Okay, I figured out my problem. Evidently, the .exe for that Niftools plugin is using old files. So I used the zip file, manually installed it, and now everything seems to be working.
