Removal of a fairly... Lewd ad

I also find the ads offensive and sexist. And many that are downright ridiculous. If we must have ads on the site, especially with the downloads, can they at least be moderated for 'acceptability' instead of just thrown at us 'carte blanc'?

Other than using something like a banner blocker or ad blocker in your browser, or looking at the properties of the advert and then blocking that site in your browser, that would be the most immediate solution.

Robin IS aware of the issue. It's been raised in the staff forums last night, as well. I know that he's been really, really busy with organizing the new site updates/upgrades so even us staffers have not heard much from him.

Oh the responsibilities of taking care of over 2 million people :(

I have all those in place, but some do get pass. I'm not against ads for the site, just seems some sort of control needs to be in place to reduce the questionable material.

On a side note to the 2 million people. Is it getting harder to get to the 2.5 millionth member? We seem to be banning them faster they are signing up! LOL. We need to plug the holes to troll and pirate city as well!

I cannot stand these adds! Not only do they objectify women (as if there isn't enough of that already), they are also misleading. "Play this browser-based RTS! Please!! There will be naked women! C'mon!! We need people to spend real money of non-existent resources."

Those games aren't even good. I've played Evony 2. Even the ads that didn't have Scarcely clothed women.

The thing is this. As has been stated many times before, Robin has no control over what ads are shown since these are handled by a 3rd party. The only way to fix this directly is to tell that 3rd party that the ad is inappropriate for the site.

Yes, they're disgusting and distasteful, but that is part of the point of ads like this, even in complaining how bad they are you mention the company related. The company responsible wants to draw users with shock value, and it works every time because people raise a stink. Even mentioning what outright fail their games are, you give them attention and curious users. The makers of these ads, quite frankly, don't care what you think as long as you are talking about their game or their ad.

We cannot preview ads that are on this site, and complaining to the ad provider only results in that ad being sent somewhere else. Until the matter is resolved, the best solution is to just ignore them. Sadly this is the nature of things when much of the money that the site needs to operate comes from ad revenue.

Too bad, but thanks for answering Vagrant0. Also, for the ones using firefox, if you use the plugin "adblock" you an block any specific advertisement. So if you see the one the op showed, right click the advertisement and block. It shouldn't show itself anymore.
