MrFrancis
I've been hit with an issue that's happened before and I don't know what it is or how to fix it, so I've decided to come to the forums and see if I can get any help. It's hard to explain what it is and it sounds odd, but I'll give my best description. Basically, out of nowhere, I get hit with...something...that has the following effects: - I can no longer zoom out (I just get a flickering stutter when I scroll with the mouse wheel and I can see my character briefly during the flickering), if I'm already in 3rd person and try to zoom into first person the same happens, and my character runs with his arms by his sides as if he's standing still (that's not how it's meant to look when you're moving) - I can't bring up my pipboy (nothing happens when I press the assigned button on my mouse) nor can I draw my currently equipped weapon - If I have a weapon drawn I can't put it away (nothing happens when I press the assigned button on my mouse) This makes any further gameplay impossible, as I'm stuck like this and can only quit the game or do a quickload. If I do a quickload, everything goes back to as it was before (ie everything working fine) until out of nowhere it will start happening again. This may be a mod conflict, but up until now the game has worked fine and I've got to level 17 or so with absolutely no issues at all. LOOT doesn't display any conflicts or errors. Any help would be appreciated. It might be a common problem that's easily solved, or it might be something that's new. I have no idea. Worst case scenario I can try and film the issue in action so it can be seen actually happening, providing a solution doesn't arise. luthienanarion
If you're loading more than 139 plugins, that's the cause of your issues.
dubiousintent
What luthienanarion said, but the cap could be anywhere between 130 and 140 active plugins. It's very dependent upon your hardware and mod mix, and so somewhat unpredictable. But "too many active plugins" (both ESM and ESP) is a definite problem with erratic effects like you are seeing. Look into "merging plugins" and using a "merge patch" as ways to reduce the number of active plugins. -Dubious-
MrFrancis
I don't think it's due to too many mods; I currently have 18 .esms active and 37 .esps active, all seemingly in the correct load order as the game launches and runs fine, and I can load all my saves. dubiousintent
Then too many mods is not the issue. (And this is an example of why you should include your "load order" initially when asking for help. If none of the following resolve things, please include it in your next reply.) What I do see consistent is that your mouse is common among all the things you are attempting but failing. Here are some things to try: * Is it by chance a Logitech brand? Some of those drivers are known to have issues. If so, try downloading the "setpoint software", setting the mouse/game settings in there and see if that solves the problem. * Simply open the console and type "EnablePlayerControls" (no quotes).* Check that you do not have the "gamepad controller" activated in the "Game Settings" menu.* If you have a controller attached, try unplugging it.* Reboot your computer if you haven't in a while. You may need to "power cycle" (power off, wait 30 seconds and then power on). * Try renaming/deleting your "C:\Users\<YourAccountName>\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV" folder "Fallout" and "FalloutPrefs" INI files and let the game rebuild them. You will then have to reapply any tweaks you made to them, which is why I suggest renaming them so you have copies to reference.* "Verify files" in Steam. (This will always report at least one file restored.) Note that this will require you to re-install your mods. If you do need to do this, check out the "Installing Games on Windows Vista+" and "Steam and Mods" articles in my signature. While none of these address the issue of why your character is running funny, perhaps it will resolve itself while fixing the mouse problem. Let's see. -Dubious- Edited May 10, 2016 by dubiousintent
MrFrancis
I have a steelseries keyboard and a Razer Deathadder mouse. I played again today and had 10 minutes of normal gameplay, until randomly when I selected my thompson to kill some Deathclaws in Sloan Quarry that the issues started, right after I selected the gun and closed the pipboy (can't zoom out, can't bring up pipboy, can't crouch, can't draw weapon, etc).I don't use game controllers so there's none to unplug and no settings changed to cater for controllers. I typed EnablePlayerControls into the console and hit enter, that did nothing. My computer wouldn't need rebooting as I started playing right when I booted up for the first time today. I verified the game files, but that obviously didn't help. Next bit of help I can try and offer is to film it happening, so it's more clear. I've attached a screenshot of my load order, in case there's anything wrong there. So now I'm thinking it's either a mod issue or a hardware issue (the latter would be curious as I've experience absolutely no problems up until now). dubiousintent
Usually if a problem occurs after a fairly consistent period of time and manifests in a fairly consistent manner (even if at different points in an app or game), it is a "heat related" hardware issue. In this case the problem seems to be with the mouse after about 10 minutes into the game. That is actually pretty quick for a peripheral device to overheat, but not for the CPU. Suggest you install a temperature monitoring app like "Speedfan" (free) and see what it tells you the next time it happens. Regardless, it can't hurt to look to see if all your fans are running and blow out any dust in your box. (Power off and stop any fans from rotating when you do, to prevent unregulated voltage spikes that can fry components.) However, this is less likely if you are not experiencing issues with other apps/games at this time. (Weeks ago doesn't count as it may be a recent problem.) The other reason for problems after a period of time is "memory leaks". Those are much harder to pin down, and the fact that the problem appears confined to the mouse makes it less likely as well. Though the "leak" might be with the mouse driver. From what I read about the Deathadder, it may be too sophisticated for FNV which likes mice drivers to be consistent with the vanilla USB standard. (Witness the known problems with some Logitech drivers.) If possible, try swapping it out for a standard mouse (or even the standard Windows driver) and see if that solves the issue. If so, you may then need to "customize" your Deathadder to be more "vanilla". Your screenshot of your FOMM LO doesn't show everything. But it does suggest to me that perhaps you are not using LOOT to sort it? If not, suggest you do so. If you are, LOOT has the ability to provide a list of your LO for pasting here. (It's under the ":" with three dots in the menu bar.) -Dubious- Edited May 10, 2016 by dubiousintent

I've had this mouse for a while, and as stated earlier, I've had no issues with F:VN until now, when I've got to level 20. I've had this issue in the past, and I wiped all my mods and reinstalled the game, and then added most of the mods I had back, minus a few that I didn't care for. I managed to play for long periods of time without any issues, hours on end sometimes, until out of nowhere this starts happening. I'm not entirely convinced that it's a hardware issue, as both my keyboard and mouse function as they should, and my pc fans are cleaned frequently.
