Frequent CTDs, tiled sky, part of the highway disappeared

I've started playing FNV again after a long absence, and I had to reinstall all the mods I had before (in the hiatus, most of my computer files were deleted at one point). I think I got them all and installed them right; the game loads and doesn't seem to be having too many issues, but there are a couple that are bothering me. Most prominently, my game seems to crash after about 20 minutes of playing. I think it must be a problem with my load order, but I'm pretty rusty, so I'm not sure where I went wrong.

 

The other problems are that the road under the overpass by Primm has disappeared, and the sky appears to have seams. I'm hoping those things will be fixed with the load order. If someone could please help me figure out what's wrong, I would really appreciate it.

Are you using LOOT to sort your LO? (Doesn't look like it.) Start with that.

 

LOOT will report "warnings" about mods that need "cleaning". Do that. (It has a link to instructions.) Note that LOOT will continue to report those warnings even after you clean them, but it includes the "CRC" of the "dirty" version of the mod. Use the CRC to determine if the mod has been cleaned or not. (I add a note to the mod in LOOT with the clean version CRC as a reminder. If the mod CRC doesn't match either, means it was updated and you need to clean again.)

 

Can't tell from the LO if you are using "New Vegas Anti-crash" (NVAC) or "New Vegas Stutter Remover" because they are NVSE plugins, but I also recommend "Mission Mojave - Ultimate Edition" (MMUE) as a complementary collection of patches to YUP.

 

You also don't seem to be using either a "Wrye Flash" Bashed Patch or manually created "merge patch" file. One of those is needed to resolve record level conflicts. Without one of them you have "rule of one" winners of conflicts, in which only the last loaded mod that touches on a record "wins" in it's entirely. All other mods "lose", and you lose out on most of the benefits. (That could be your problem around Primm.) The STEP guide here covers the subject nicely with instructions for both approaches. It is definitely worth taking the time to learn about it.

 

Once you get your LO sorted but before you build a "bashed/merge patch", run FNVLODGen. The "LOD quads" it builds are very dependent upon the LO. That should take care of your "sky seams".
