Add a Weight value to the workbench screen

I'm constantly trying to figure out just how much do I need to scrap to be able to move normally (Pre level 30). Sometimes there's just too many tasty items I want to hang on to but I really don't want to crawl all the way back to home base. Could someone add a small label indicating the current loaded weight somewhere on the screen when in one of the work benches? (And assuming that's not to much trouble, could you show me how it was done so I can find a starting point to learn how to make mods?)
