Hanker109
Hi! In the past my computer's Operating System or the computer itself borke down, requiring reinstall or replacement. if I have the original discs, like Oblivion, the reinstall is very easy and I don't have to wait hours for downloads. Another thing that worries me is that I've read that many mods can't work with Steam games. Because of these considerations, is it possible to back-up FNV game into another drive or DVD, eliminating the "wait-for-ever-to-download"? Another question, when I play FNV, do I go online everytime I do? I understand that staying online for long periods of time exposes you to being hacked. Thanks to any one that can answer these for me. Best regards, Hanker109
drakeelvin
Steam has an option to "Backup Game Files" -- as long as your game is fully installed and activated already you can make a local backup.

Thanks, Drakeelvin. Is there any particular way to do the back-up? Please let me know, thanks again. Sincerely, Hanker109
drakeelvin
Yep, just right-click on New Vegas in the Steam Library and you'll see "Backup Game Files" on the menu. It will backup the entire image of the game to any folder you want, but it defaults to the Steam backups directory. I backup mine to an external USB HD. It takes around 15 minutes or so. Hanker109
Thanks for the reply, I'm glad to be able to backup this game. Once the game is finished I like to keep them for future replay or if something goes wrong with either the computer or OS. Many thanks once more. Korodic
Actually when you own a steam game, it sticks with your account as well, so when you're backing it up, you're setting up a good secondary protection. If you own a steam game, and it is uninstalled, it may show up as a grayed out text, which you can click on, and then click on "install" to re-install it.
