zammysage22
I don't understand why, throughout all these years, with how modifiable these games are, we can't add custom first person animations to the game. It makes all these cool custom weapons look like absolute s#*! with unfitting animations. Has that changed with Fallout 4? Can we finally add our own custom animations? IF you need havok to make animations (that's what beth uses at least), and you can't get it cause it costs a whole lot of money, how do you want to make animations? :)
FlyDungas
Then it's too bad the rich modders only care about making sex mods lol

Does their API come with animation tools? Regardless, why can't somebody use 3DS Max? Blender? Or Maya? I know people used these tools to make Third Person animations for Skyrim, and the other Fallouts, but why are these games so restrictive on First Person animations? Even if it's just adding them for custom weapons?

Even if it's just adding them for custom weapons? Past Bethesda games were 32-bit based, and used the 32-bit Havok SDK. This was a free for use option, at least at the time, and people were able to develop the tools needed to properly edit / create animations for the previous titles. Bethesda switched to a 64-bit platform and thus the 64-bit Havok SDK. 64-bit Havok SDK is NOT free and is very expensive, and thus, the modders who make the cool tools that allow the rest of us to create animations and such currently do not have access to what they need to get it done properly. That said, there are people working on it without access to the Havok SDK, I have no idea how viable that is, but I hope they pull it off. Its all above my pay-grade anyway, I don't know enough about coding to give more detail than that, I just understand the basics behind the issue. I've seen the devs of Mod Organizer having some time moving over to 64bit, making me use NMM. However, even in the past, nobody modified, or added, new first person animations. Except Hitman and his amazing First Person animation overhaul for New Vegas. I always assumed it was just impossible to do, which boggled my mind with how moddible these games are. It's strange, I come from skinning games like Counter-Strike: Source where they could reaplace models, textures, and add brand new animations. But that animation data was in the model files themselves. It's like the first person animations in Bethesda games are baked into the game engine for some reason, with no loose files to replace.
