billyro
Hi, I've recently uninstalled Oblivion because of some random error that caused CTD upon starting the game. What happened was, I was deleting ALL my mods and starting fresh (and I had over 200 mods) and the process was pretty straight forward. I deleted all the mod files, but I must have accidentally deleted something important. Before I thought this, I did all the standard procedure like Wrye Bash Bashed Patch and BOSS and yeah. Ran Oblivion and it always CTD when I tried to run it OBSE and non-OBSE. So I thought, 'better reinstall the game so all the neccessary files WILL be there'. Unistall was easy, reinstall is evil. About half way through the installation proccess, where it is installing the Textures.bsa file, it has an error message pop-up that says thisFeature transfer error Feature: OblivionComponent: OblivionFile: E:\data4.cabError: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error Since the time that I first installed Oblivion and now, I have got lots of new hardware for my computer (like upgraded graphics card and stuff) so it may be a possible reason. I'm not about to go messing with things that I know nothing about, so any help would be appreciated.Thanks. EDIT: Ok, so I explored the game disc and found the data4.cab file, so I know it's there. What does the I/O device error mean? EDIT 2: Tried again because I was bored, but got a slightly different error. Feature transfer error Feature: OblivionComponent: OblivionFile: E:\data4.cabError: Data error (cyclic redundancy check). What da heck?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? I need some help, please. prandiningrat
I/O (Input/Output) error means in this case the installer can not read "data4.cab" as you see in the next generates new error, CRC check. I/O error can be Write, file access, or read error... This probably, your disc is bad sector or problem with your DVD drives..Try with another DVD drives.. billyro
I only have one disc drive. Perhaps I'll just check the disc, maybe give it a clean. You know. EDIT: When starting the game setup, does anyone hear the Oblivion music play for about a second? I do. Doubt that it means anything, but eh.Ok, cleaned it and put it back in. It's installing right now, I'll be back. Edited July 24, 2011 by billyro
