Running F:NV on very slow PC.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

So I have a notebook with:

- Intel Celeron M 1.86 GHz

- 1Gb Ram

- I do not know what GPU it is but I think it sucks.

I tried to run F:NV on very low specs with resolution of 800x600 and I still have about 15 FPS in Doc Mitchel's house.

I want to know if it's possible to optimize game further - I tried to download a config but game just resets all the settings if I replace Fallout.ini or FalloutPrefs.ini in MyDocuments.

I also did not find any low-textures packs.

Has anybody managed to get F:NV running on very slow notebook (like mine) or it's a pointless task?

Don't waste your time. From: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/fallout-new-vegas/11035

Fallout: New Vegas Minimum Requirements
CPU Speed: Dual Core 2.0 GHz Processor or better
RAM: 2 GB
OS: Windows 7 / Vista / XP
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6 series or better, ATI Radeon X1300 XT series or better
Free Disk Space: 10 GB

The game engine is still designed only for one core processor, so CPU Speed is everything. You really need 3+GHz, and at least 3GB of system RAM as the game only allows 2GB by default and needs every byte it can get. The OS takes up about another 1GB.

That you can get it to run at all is a minor miracle.

Well, on my very old pc I used to play FO3

Specs were:

- AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.81 GHz
- 1 GB ram
- Radeon x1600 256 MB

It was more or less playable, but places like Point lookout forest were dreadful. I had less than 10 frames per second there.
