Guest Wielder of Crystalis
Personally, I think Tribunal was worth the money, and once Bloodmoon's price drops a bit, I'll get it as well. But one thing bothers me about how quickly Tribunal can take place.... Immediately.-------------------So, here are your characters' options: 1) Your character can't defeat Dark Brotherhood assassins, and so gets killed near the very beginning of the game. 2) Your character can defeat the Dark Brotherhood assassins. a: Your character uses Light Armor, so now he/she is set for the whole game (until he/she gets Glass Armor) b: Your character doesn't use Light Armor, so now he/she sells Dark Brotherhood armor for enough gold to get what he/she uses.----------------- Well, to me, that unbalances the early game for all characters. Either by killing them, giving them great armor, or giving them lots of cash. What I propose (and have tried to make, but can't find a variable that gets it started) is a plugin that postpones the Tribunal plotline until much later in the game. Probably not after the 'final' battle, but some time quite a bit later. Maybe after he/she is declared Nerevarine and Hortator or something. What are everyone else's thoughts on this? Am I on my own here? :)
Myth-Source
great idea mate, like it I also agree with the fact that this unbalances the game. you should try and get in contact with someone who knows more about variables than I do. I like the idea though and i think you should follow it up, Myth-Source
Death_Penalty
I disagree. I've always been able to handle the assassins on lvl 1, they only get a silver dagger. And I think it's great, whenever I need some more gold all I have to do is rest... SothThe69th
There is a mod out there that simply postpones their attacks for a while, and another that makes it so there are spots that the Dark Brotherhood doesn't attack you in, after a short search, I only came across the latter, and not the former however- "Dark Brotherhood attacks on fewer places" is the mod name, and its at the Morrowind Summit
VenomByte
Yes, I agree that the game becomes totally unbalanced when low level characters encounter brotherhood members. I've lost count of the amount of characters I've gotten rich in no time by taking advantage of that. I suggest the following possible solutions: Re-equip dark brotherhood members, or at least the apprentices. Give them some armour which looks exactly the same as dark brotherhood armour, but is much weaker and less expensive to prevent low level characters either getting too much cash or too powerful armour. You may want to scale up their stats to compensate for this. Alternatively, have the armour dissapear when the dark brotherhood member dies. It might look a bit strange to see them become naked when they hit the ground, so here's a possible solution to that: Add dark brotherhood items as low-valued clothing that looks exactly like the armour. That way the member will still have the protection from the armour while alive, and will still look the same when killed, but won't allow the player access to high value equipment. Another possibility is to have the entire member himself dissapear. This has the advantage that it solves all the listed problems, as well as preventing players from getting dozens of glass junkblades from the tougher brotherhood members, and also adds that little bit of mystery to the brotherhood. Obviously you can't have the leader dissapear though.... although doing so would provide excellent scope for a mod extending the dark brotherhood quests a little... Anyway, those are my ideas. I'm willing to put together some plugins implementing them if anyone's interested.
VenomByte
Played around with my ideas earlier. I did a mod which replaces all dark brotherhood armour with 'Brotherhood Novice armour' as soon as they die. Result: They still have exactly the same fighting ability, and the armour you get from them still looks exactly the same, but it now only offers the protection equivalent of Chitin and is worth even less. Seems to work fine, and as far as I can tell it addresses the balance problem. Anyone interested in a copy?
The_Prophet
I think that the bodies should dissapear. Even if the new armor is worth next to nothing you still get some gold and without Tribunal expansion people would not get gold at all
Guest Guest
You'll be able to get some money from it, yes. But it will no longer be the easiest or the fastest way to raise cash - in fact, it won't even be close. It won't really give Tribunal users any serious advantage, at least in economic terms.
