Armor mods not working, need help pls

At first I was only going to post about this in the thread of one of the modders who made one of the armors but now that I know that I am having the same problem with all of the other armor mods I thought it would be ok to post here since its happening with multiple mods of the same type. So no need for me to post the same question on each individual modders thread.

I wanted to get some armor mods for the companions I just installed so they would look distinguishable from the other npcs in the game. An armor that I had installed before still works ( the kimono from the game Red Ninja) and one of the armors that I had installed yesterday night also works (the road rouge armor that won file of the month a few months ago). But all of the other armor mods are not working right. They show up in game in the exact loacations they should be but none of them have icons like they should and they all make what ever part of the body they cover turn invisible when equiped (like when I equipped a full body armor, the entire body except for the head turned invisible).

While I haven't been modding for a long time, I have modded long enough to know that you should read the read me of every mod you install. I read all of the requirements which I met and all of them installed the same way (merging the mesh and texture files with the main meshes and testures files and adding the esp into the data folder). Actually looking back inside the main meshes and textures folders in the data folder it looks like all of the meshes and textures from all of the non working armor mods have been moved into a secondary meshes and textures folder within the main meshes and textures folders. So when I was merging the all of the armor mod meshes with the main meshes folder they were all being put into a secondary meshes folder within the main meshes folder and the same for the textures. Should I move everything out of the secondary folders and toss them into the main folders minus the secondary meshes and textures folders (wow I hope that wasn't too confusing).

I will wait for you guys to answer because I don't want to screw things up any further.

Ok, I think your issue is that the hard code pathing on the mesh isn't pointing to the location where the texture actually is. Check with nifskope and adjust to the new file pathing that you have and problem solved. However if you have a folder named texture inside the main texture folder just remove the files from the embeded texture folder remove those and put them in the main texture folder.

Ex of bugged pathing oblivion/data/texture/texture/blah

Ex of proper pathing obivion/data/texture/blah

Ok so all I need to do is remove everything from the embedded textures and meshes folder and put them into the main? Ok I will try it and see what happens.

Still problems. After moving all of the files that were in the embedded textures and meshes folders into the main ones there were some changes with the armor and clothing mods that weren't working before.

The dark wind armor works just fine although I am not sure if the icon for it is supposed to be question marks or not (I don't care, as long as I can see the clothing Im good).

The ancient guardian robe mostly works ( the skirts and tops glitch so they stretch out in random directions but everything else works fine including the weapons) but I will still disable it for now. I saw something about skeleton mods on one of the pictures that the modder uploaded and was wondering if it had something to do with that?

The seraphim armor has to be bought and costs a lot of gold so I haven't been able to test to see if it shows up on my character but its icons do work so i will leave it activated until i can buy it and see.

The Schwertleite Armor and shield still will not show but their icons and the sword show just fine.

Like I said before, I am still a noob when it comes to modding especially since this is the only game I have modded so far. If you guys know a solution or think there is something that could help please post and help a fellow gamer out. I was gonna get the dynasty armor mod too but maybe I will wait until you guys can help me sort this out ;D

I've had a similar issue with an armor mod I was trying to break down into multiple pieces. The problem was a rigging/skeleton issue so Installing a proper skeleton may help you.

Coronerras Maximum Compatibility Skeleton is the most used skeleton I know of and is a required dependency of many of the HGEC bodies and armors. If you don't have it installed already, give it a shot.

Edit: Also, If you're installing armor mods that don't go with your bodies or aren't at least based on your bodies, that may be the issue. If you don't have a body replacer installed at all, that's definitely an issue. "EVE Variants" and "High Res Textures for HGEC" would be recommended in that case.

I am sorry but your avatar is so distracting, just too funny.

Thanks for pointing out the skeleton mod. I will try it tommorow after I have gone to sleep. I will also try the high res textures as well.
