By the way, I don't think you should compare sketching to modding in terms of difficulty. They're not similar, one person might be could with one but not the other, or visa-versa. If you meant MODDELING then thats diffinately harder then sketching. There are 5 yr uni courses devoted to it.

isnt modding: moddeling,meshing, texturing etc etc? or are you just showing off your talent for commenting? MODDING IS ALL THAT STUFF ADDED! isnt it? cause if it is ill just ignore your last post,

sketching is different from modding (moddeling etc etc neednt i remind you)

what i was saying in the other post,is that kimawhatshisname thinks that it is simple modding and it will take one hour to finish everything, you, on the other hand are reffering to a different situation therefore your post is considered spam :)

didnt i say this will go on and on? someone lock this post!

I'm not going to compare modeling to sketching in terms of effort or amount of work involved, both are very unique talents which take many years to become even capable at. However modeling is not the same as modding.

Modding basically means just adding to or changing existing components within a game. While meshing may be needed to do some modding, the two are not the same, just as retexturing isn't the same as modding even though one is part of the other. Meshing and retexturing are both seperate components from normal modding in that they are things which must first be fabricated, and then somehow linked through modding to the game. Much like how a wall must be physically built before it can be painted. The difference between asking for a mod which doesn't need any new meshes, and one which does is essentially that. In the mod which doesn't need any new meshes, the wall is already built, and can be painted or finished right away. In the mod that requires new meshes, the wall, as well as any supporting elements must be completed in their entirety before any painting can begin. If you wanted a house fast, you would be able to get one sooner by trying to work with what was already built, making additions where they can, and only needs to be repainted, rather than having to have the house built to specifications from the foundation up.

This, and most other mods where armor is requested falls into either making additions, or having to start from scratch, in either case, you'd need people with the specific knowhow and abilities to make sure that it is built right. You can't expect a painter to be able to build additional rooms, you can't expect a carpenter to know how to do all the plumbing and electrical work, or even the brick work if the brick work needs to be done. The more complicated the project, the more specific skills would be needed to make it happen.

*just to be clear;

Painting = General CS

Building rooms = general meshing

plumbing = UVW map creation/editing

electrical work = weighting

brick work = retexturing

or something like that.
