Ok, so let's see here. Do I have the backstory of the main quest d

Edit: Ok...I have a lot less space for a topic title than I was led on to think. Anyways, this is meant to be before the The Waters of Life quest.

 

Just wanna make sure I understand the main storyline of the game so far. Please, under no circumstances tell me anything that is going to happen in the future, unless I say that I've passed it, and if you're not 100% sure if certain information is past where I am, please, don't post it. I know that this is the spoiler forum, and I can't stop you. I guess I'm asking to impose everyone who reads this upon their good nature.

 

Oh, and sorry for the way this was written. I'm half awake right now.

 

Ok, so your dad, before you were concieved was on a mission with your mother and several other scientists to create an endless amount of purified water.

 

You were born, and your mother died in childbirth, and then your dad decided to get the both of you to vault 101 so that YOU would have a safe life.

 

You turned into an adult, and your dad decided that you are able to take care of yourself now, so he decided to continue Project Purity.

 

Your dad made his way through Megaton, GNR, and Rivet City, but really couldn't get any further on Project Purity, until he went to vault 112, where he met Dr. Braun, and while he learned of the GECK, which he would use to complete project purity, but unfortunately, Dr. Braun went insane, and did all the tortorous acts, and that's when you have to save both yourself and your dad.

 

That's the main storyline up to where I am, right?

A few points.

 

Before your story starts, Dad, Mom, and the Lyons Pride come from the West Coast under untold circumstances. It's unclear whether they knew each other, but it is abundantly clear they all arrived at the same time, about 20 years prior to you leaving the Vault. The BoS worked with your father on Project Purity until your mother died in childbirth. Wanting a better life for you than he had, he sought out Vault 101, leaving the rest of the team to work without him. It then became clear to the Brotherhood that without James, the project was going nowhere. When the BoS pulled their support, the project died due to lack of bodyguards and the building fell to the Mutants.

 

Braun was already mad hundreds of years before your Father went into the chair. He just stepped into a trap in the simulation and couldn't get out, then Braun tortured him by turning him into a dog. It took probably a week for James to do all the other things, but had to wait until you freed him from the simulation.

 

Not to spoil you too bad, but you will soon meet a Paladin that knew James, and although she will not tell you anything about him other than she respected him, she is the woman who was with James the day that he went into Vault 101. Moriarty mentions her in his computer entry as "his Brotherhood friend"

Well he learned of the GECK in Vault 101, which is why he had trouble with the Overseer prior to his escape. He went to rivetcity to basicly bounce it off the other former members of the project and once they mirrored his theory that the GECK could be used to accomplish their goals, went to the most likely vault in which to find one, where he fell into a virtual snare with Dr. Braun.

 

As for James or your mother coming from the west, Ive never found any material on that, where did you see/hear it? My understanding was that they were more or less local to the east coast and sought a method to make their dual dreams become a reallity, or meet when the BoS offered the chance to them, it never really covers that.

If you look in overseer's computer in Vault 101 you understand that it's inhabitants are subject of experiment from vault tec, to study how a community evolve for centuries in totally closed space, so when the overseer lie to his people sayin that nobody can live outside he's just followin' Vault Tec orders.

All Vaults in DC are scientific labs, where inhabitants thought they were refugees but were in fact subjects of experiments.
