zeropoint101
My assumption is it when working on an exterior cell, it would allow me to view only that cell without the render window trying to render 8 million other things outside the cell and making everything impossibly slow. But it doesn't seem to do this... or anything as far as I can tell, Also, I'm not talking about the "current cell only" option in the Find/Replace dialogue for objects. I'm talking about the option in the main View menu at the top of the main CK window. My system can run the game fine, and the creation kit... well enough, but it's very hard to do anything with exterior cells... so something like this would be excellent if it worked. Anyone know what this is supposed to do and if it's working for anyone else? If not, do you know any tips for better performance when trying to mess with exterior cells? knightfalcon
I wanted exactly the same thing, but took me a bit of playing about to find a way to do it. When in your exterior cell go to the cell window then shift select everything in the right list from the cell you are in. Then, careful not to deselect them all, click on the render window and then hit Alt-Shift-1 this will hide everything you have not selected. Give it a sec and you'll notice only the current cell is visible in the render window. However, depending on how busy that cell is (I was playing about in the middle of the city) the render window can still be quite slow. In some ways it might be even slower as it is now able to render everything in the cell. However, I have found some other useful bits and pieces that do something similar that seems to work better still. Check out the layer window, this is populated with layers for grouping items based on what has been loaded in. Clicking on the 'eye' will hide/show that layer. I've found this to be a quick easy way to tidy up what is in the render window when in an exterior cell.Better yet, depending on the layers in question of course, this seemed to speed up the render window better than the current cell only option. You can check for other bits and pieces about all this here:http://www.creationkit.com/fallout4/index.php?title=New_Editor_Features

Changing "uGridsToLoad=5" in the CreationKit.ini to 3 instead helped me out quite a bit.

I've actually solved my problem since I posted this by just lowering the "grids to load" in the preferences>render section to 1 or 2(even 3 is ok if it's not a super busy cell), I forgot this thread was still here. BUT... you've given me an option I didn't know about. I'm curious though... when using alt-shift 1... does it hide things that aren't rendered yet in cells next to you? Meaning if I move or rotate too much to a view that hadn't rendered yet, will it keep trying to be trying to render what's in the new part?(did I explain that well?) Or does it just sort of flag everything you selected as "never show anything but these no matter where you rotate move"? Someone on reddit told me this option and it helped a ton, though on my system I often have to go down all the way to 1 for it to be smooth.
