oipluckie
I've been reading around about how much RAM/memory Fallout NV uses, and I've seen average is between like 700k to 750k+. I've been looking at my memory usage and it shows on average about 850k and goes up to 1 mil, and I was just wondering if that's normal? Maybe it's just the mods I'm using, I'll post the load order. Just downloaded PCB just in case. Been getting a lot of random crashes lately, and just got rid of More Monster mod and Yangtze player home and don't know if those were the culprit or not but was able to play for more than an hour without crashing. I was also manually typing in PCB in game to get rid of the crazy 300k memory usage boost every once in awhile. Any help would be appreciated and thanks. maboru
What are your computer specs? Project Nevada has been causing some people conflicts since the last patch, I put Better Game Performance last and temporarily disabled Project Nevada and FOOK pending 1.4 patch updates. Purge Cell Buffers has been acting up too, just do it manually through the console if it helps you. Generally speaking the more memory the game uses the better but it all depends on your computer specs.

If possible any suggestions for mods that would go with my list? And Better Game Per. could that go after my merged patch? I'm still pretty new with merging mods but got the gist of it. I miss the old days of using wyre bash with Oblivion. :< Thanks for the reply, here are the specs. maboru
You don't have to worry about how much memory is being used, you're in the 'more the merrier group'. I don't see any reason for you to have to purge cell buffers at all with those specs, that's an aid for rigs with less memory. Try using this - http://nvse.silverlock.org/beta/fnv4gb_nvse.zip - Just install it to your fallout new vegas directory (the one with .exe files), make a shortcut to your desktop and launch the game from that. Try this - http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40442 - Install it to the same directory as above (it automatically creates a desktop shortcut.) Run it before you launch the game but don't use its launch function. In it (every option is explained) choose every preload option including bumping up the preload buffer and anything else that looks good to you like using all your threads, max anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering and make sure to enable 3.0 shaders because your card supports it all. Let us know how it works for you. And don't forget to hit the 'apply' button for the changes you make. [Oh yeah, go ahead and leave PV in there for now and see if this helps it work better. I'm not sure about Better game performance because I've always thought that merged patches go last too. Check the comments on the mod page.] Edited July 31, 2011 by maboru

I'll try using the Configator and 4gb enabler, I've had em for awhile, just didn't know if I should've used em or if it would've done any good for my system. maboru
That's good, one thing I forgot to mention is that your card supports HDR so enable that but make sure Bloom is disabled. It's either one or the other and HDR makes everything look much better.

I highly recommend the auto incremental save, because after using it, I rarely crash anymore.
