WLionheart
Well I've decided to install FCOM Convergence and I'm having a lot of issue's with it. At first i had a lot of difficulties of getting it installed anyway since i got it installed every thing is really bright , i don't even need to use a torch cause its so bright that it looks like the sun is shining inside 24/7. Not only that my game is now in extremely low definition while i have everything on high settings (its not my graphic card cause 2 weeks ago i was playing oblivion before the decision of redoing oblivion and everything was HD). I finally got it so that the race faces didn't show blocky texture's in it but there are still other problems. In the world map i often see misplaced textures i think like a big line of stretched texture flying over the floor or for example in imperial city across the foot walk. I've tried redoing the patch to see if the error lies there but it doesn't so i have no clue where the issue comes from. My final problem is that now each time i go in or outside for example fast travel to vilverin my game crashes , or when i use the gate to go outside imperial city it crashes as well. Even if i restart oblivion it keeps crashing when ever i go trough the door but sometimes after awhile when i decide to try again in oblivion it doesn't crash and i can keep playing till the next crash. I hope somebody can help me with this , i'd also would like if somebody could suggest me other mods like Oscuro's or Francesco's Overhaul or tell me which of the two is better

WLionheart
well i've done everything that's on that list and i STILL have issue's and even more then before like flying missing texture signs and all
Balakirev
Typically, if you have missing textures--giant exclamation points, etc--then it's because a mod was either imperfectly assembled by a modder, or imperfectly installed by a user. WLionheart
i'm thinking of reinstalling WHOLE oblivion again for idk how many est time this summer and try doing it again but i'd like to know something first. Since i have vista should i maybe shove oblivion on my D drive instead of on C and program files?

If you've installed something incorrectly, yes, uninstalling/reinstalling the whole game will make it go away, but then, so would finding out what's causing the problem, and fixing it. All that time spent uninstalling/reinstalling everything wouldn't be needed, your character would still be around, and you'd have knowledge of something that would come in handy should this happen, again. In this case, it's the tool Refscope. Very easy to use, and it will tell you what mod you've got is associated with a missing texture in the game. Then you only need to reinstall the mod over itself--unless of course it's a quest mod, something associated with multiple coded stages. If it isn't, you're home free. WLionheart
thanks a lot for that tool its indeed useful although I'm not quite sure how to work with it exactly. I decided to take screen shots of the issue's I'm actually having http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn24/William_Lionheart/oblivion.jpghttp://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn24/William_Lionheart/oblivion2.jpg the first issue i know i had before following the 50 steps given few posts back and it happens in various locationsthe second issue sometimes occur don't know when and where exactly but it did happen there at the waterfront now because i use alternative starting place
HeyYou
First one has to do with a setting in your ini. I think it is flodverticalbias or some such. Second one is missing meshes, not sure exactly which ones though, grab formid finder, or refscope, and they will tell you what mod they are from. Both require OBSE. WLionheart
true i had to change something in my ini file about the distance stuff though i don't recall doing that before the 50 steps. i know the 50 steps say Many people come to cry 'I have CTDs!' or 'I have weird things!' simply because they turn on huge bunch of mods at once. and at step 49 . 49. AT THIS POINT I TURN OFF ALL MODS (i.e. unchecked them in Wrye Bash or /and OBMM) except Oblivion.esm. This is essential step. Don’t skip it if you don’t want to see hanging arrows in the air, missing land masses, purple textures, bizarre NPC behaviour and so on. Otherwise you will be victim of the ‘Multiple Mod Activation’ phenomenon but i did activate every single mod separately , made load's of saves yet i still have these issue's and i found amusei walking in the air as well to. Is there a short and easy way to explain how Refscope works?
Balakirev
For the yellow stars, Refscope should easily provide the name of the mod. Just read the readme that included with Refscope, cast the spell, hover your mouse over one of the stars, etc. The other could be as HeyYou suggests, or it may be a mod conflict. Refscope might help here, too. Try clicking on several things--the columns, the green stuff that looks like water, the nearby land. See if this yields two mods, or just one.
