Custom Vault - WIP

In fallout we operate under the assumption that VaultTec is the only manufacturer of pre-war vaults. Isn't it possible that there could be an "off-brand" version for those who aren't as well off, or who haven't served in the military? Where would the masses go? Or perhaps a private company constructed a vault to preserve its assets?

Just for fun, I've been working this project recently, which I started designing conceptually for Fallout NV. I just wanted some opinions on the progress and any ideas that may be interesting to incorporate.

While I currently just imagine it being a glorified player home obtained via a note quest or something similar, I am open to expanding it. If the strange builds/designs appeal to others, I would be willing to improve it. Most recently I have been spending time refining the lighting, as it currently looks pretty bad. I have also been creating some new textures to spice up the walls and floors.

The picture above is simply the entrance, which is reached after jumping across a gap in a broken bridge (crushed by rocks).

Function wise, I would like to know how to create the "fake" elevators that the game uses. Also, any suggestions to improve the look of the textures and lighting (i.e. metal vs. concrete, red vs white) would be appreciated. Where can I put it in game?

Since I can't (assuming I had the skills) pour hours into making new meshes and construction materials, the overall appearance will always be a knock-off of fallout assets used in strange ways. Therefore, it will, for the most part, be a square and monochromatic build unless I add tons of decor. Please bear that limitation in mind when commenting.

I like it so far. It feels a lot more industrial than the Vault Tech vaults, so it gives the place its own atmosphere and flavor to separate the two.

If you're looking for ideas on how to light it, remember these little design tips:

Mood - what is the mood you're trying to set for that area? Bleak? Film Noir moody? Clean, crisp work area? Warm and welcoming?

Color theory - Linking to above, different colors create different moods. Blues will be sleepy and peaceful, reds are more alarming and moody, etc etc.

I like this idea! if it were me, I'd make it a down-market Pulaski vault, branded appropriately.

I can definitely add the branding to it! It would be a great way to add more immersive elements to the structure.

Thank you for the lighting tips. For this entrance area that you see in the pictures, I will probably be shifting to a moody red. As, like almost all of the Vaults in Fallout lore, I'm going to assume something awful happened inside...

I'd imagine a lot of groups would have off brand vaults. Companies, civil defense, hell maybe even a group of neighboring neighborhoods pooled their money together. What you've posted so far looks great.

Is anyone familiar with the font used by the pulowski preservation shelters? I tried looking for it, but had no luck.

I'm mainly using the following picture for inspiration on the design of the industrial vault:

I will upload more pictures of the vault soon. I am almost finished with the custom textures/materials for the vault structure.

As promised, some more photos:

I have now begun some refinement of the entry area in terms of lighting and decoration. I still have some textures/materials to replace, but most of the footwork is done on that. Moving on to two areas that I have not shown in the pictures yet. Hoping to add more custom content to the area (posters, Pulowski logo/text, etc.). Currently, the main door reads pulowski, but nothing else does. I expand on this idea as I go along.
