Graphics Card Question

Recommended Posts

my computers graphics card will not play New Veags without lagging terribly. Ive been searching for a good GeForce card, and found out that there are MANY cards to chose from.

The Most I'll be able to spend on a card is about 100$. what is the best card i can get?

I'll be grateful for any replies and help, thanks

Right now I'm running New Vegas on a Geforce 9600 GT, no lag or anything with the exception of exremely detailed textures everywhere, and a crapload of NPCs around. 9600 GT should be below AU$90 now, it's been a few years since it was released.

This oughta help a bit...

Do bear in mind that this game-engine relies quite a bit on the CPU, so while you will see some increase in performance with a new GPU, you won't necessarily see a massive increase in instances where there are many NPCs (as their AI is pure CPU as I understand it).

You may also be able to tweak your system to squeeze out a few more FPS with the CONFIGATOR, a program I cannot recommend enough.

GTX460 is a good Nvidia card for the money, around the $100-$120 range.

I agreed with this the GTX 460 is a really great card for a low cost, had 2 for about a year+ and i just recently upgrade to the GTX 560 ti for The Witcher 2 , anyhow the GTX 460 is more than enough to play FONV @ max settings , but also depending on the rest of your PC components,

Also remember you will need to upgrade your psu if the one you have is too low :)

Cheers !!

I second this. Based on how much you wish to spend, I say either GTX 460, GTX 560 Ti (which I have), Radeon 6950 (you can flash BIOS to 6970) or GTX 570.

Upgrading RAM might slightly help also, considering how dirt cheep they are.
