Whoa, that was an intense crash.

Ok, I had been playing the game fine the last couple days up till now. I'm using mods, but no problems until shortly after leaving the Vault. Even then, I had the game on for a while as I went through FWE's menus...but when I finally moved on, I had only gone a short distance into Springvale...I actually went through a gate under a water tower and was about to look at the rads I'd get from drinking from it, when the game froze, stuttered for a couple seconds, then went black. A moment later a blue screen comes up with lots of text, but that disappears just as quickly. My computer starts over, a little slowly...and here I am.

I'm kind of reluctant to start it up again until I get some sort of idea of any possible reason that might have happened.

I hate to say this but that's Fallout for ya!

I haven't had a game that hasn't crashed on me yet. With the new and old systems I have had.

Anything else you have with FWE? Any chance you Bash patched them? (I don't know how to personally)

I'm thinking that if you have too many going it could causes the crashes and maybe bash patching or tagging, w/e it's called would help.

The blue screen thing makes me want to ask if you are playing on a Dell.

Could be a problem with your computer in general but I am un sure how to fix that.

Is Fallout just crashing now? Have you had it installed before with no problems?

If so then I am guessing a mod is causing a s*** storm.

Sorry I can not be of much help. I got tired of this and get my copies by alternative methods now, lol. Which I don't recommend because I still crash and New Vegas one won't even allow mods.

Maybe it's just our computers...

No, it's not a Dell, and this is the first time I've played Fallout 3 on a PC.

But I do have several other mods. A few big things that should work fine, MMM, Project Beauty, and EVE...

Enhanced Shaders...Fallout reanimated...hmm...

I guess I could just try again, see what happens.

Have you used FO3Edit to merge the patches together? You also need FOIP (Fallout Inter(something) Program) to make sure the mods play nice!

So, you got a blue screen (of death)? Sounds like something far more serious then some simple load order error or whatever.

First off: Can you reproduce the error? (the blue screen) Does it also happens when you try playing another game?

Have you updated your graphics drivers to the latest version?

What about Fo3 itself? Updated that to the latest patch too?

Also, try running the game with all your mods disabled and see if the blue screen comes up then too. If it does: It's not your load order or your mods producing it. (seems unlikely anyway)

Oh, and could you post the specs of your rig and the OS (operating system) you're running?

Ok, here's the deal:

I started a new game, left the Vault, tweaked my FWE settings again, and started to explore on a slightly different route. I walked around in Springvale a little, looting some containers and looking at the Eyebot for a few minutes. Things seemed fine. Then, I started heading up the path to Megaton, and that gate was ahead. I was nervous, so I stood around a little bit and even quick saved my game...and then just as I was about to relax and brought up my Pip Boy to pause the game so I could go make dinner, it crashed in the exact same way.

My dad said it could be a graphics issue since it goes to a blue screen. But it sure seems like it's that area near the gate that is screwing me up...what could be going on here?

Well, like I said before: A blue screen usually means something is seriously screwed up. You could give reinstaling Fo3 a try, but I personally suspect the issue is not that simple to solve.

I will therefore ask the same questions as I did in my last post:

I did this for the third time today, this time on purpose. I actually avoided the general area of the gate, and went to Megaton. I played for a few hours with no problems, and then later loaded an earlier save and went near the area. It crashed pretty quickly. I turned off automatic restart so I could read the error message, and it had a code that I didn't write down and something concerning a .dll file.

I'm getting a feeling it's graphics related.

I fixed this problem, I think. Driver issue.

But I have another problem now, I think...I've been playing a while today. I've started to notice the game acting weird...it's crashed a few times. I died one time, and the game just closed on its own. I think it locked up once loading a save (I have a habit of reloading a save over and over and replaying one section, could I be overworking it or something?) and once when going to the main menu, it kept showing loading screens and playing the music, but never brought up the menu.

I'm at Super Duper Mart for the first time, and I've seen some annoying things. When I load my game from the main menu, the music stops and towards the end of the sort of long loading, the heartbeat sound starts when it shouldn't. The sun is missing its corona now...

I don't want to play around. If this means something to any of you, I'd appreciate help making sure this game is running as smoothly as possible.
