[Fallout 3 Newbie] Mod guidance

It seems if someone's gone to the effort to make an application to manage mods, which makes it as simple as one click to install, everyone should use it for the benefit of people who don't like potentially irreversibly messing up the install. Also install scripts like the one for the male bodies seems to be much clearer than all the options in the backpack, where you have to pick a different file depending on your set of options.

It just doesn't work that way. Besides, 9 out of 10 mods require nothing more then a simple copy & paste. On top of that: most mod authors also describe in the readme where it's files need to be copied too. If people can't even do that, then they shouldn't even download mods to begin with. Also, some people simply don't use FoMM at all.

The Protagonist and some female raiders are messed up. some female raiders are fine (ones with tattoos).

Sounds familiar. Still looking into that myself too. (yes, even I can screw up from time to time  )

Like i said, fixed it but dont really like the modern weapons, so will probably remove it. any more appropriate suggestions?

Nope. AA is the most lore-friendly weapons mod out there.

It's rather a lot, an obvious seam around the neck. is there not a texture set made to go with project beauty HD?

No, project beauty is solely mainly aimed at making faces more eh.. realistic. You'll probably find that turning project beauty off won't remedy this. It's simply one of few things no-one has a real solution for.

Nevertheless, you stated it was rather a lot. Could you post a screenshot to see if it's worse then normal?

Yeah, the woman who gives you the poem for your 10th birthday (Butch's mum?).

That Christine Kendall I think. Definitely not Butches mom.

Anyway; You've install project beauty right? And you installed a hair / eyes / eyelashes mod? Let me take a wild guess here: It's Earache's "Anthony Lings Coiffure", right? PB and Lings simply don't work together. You're going to have make a choice on which you want to keep.

Torchlight has a mirror directory structure in appdata which is checked for overriding files. there's only 1 level of override but there aren't any conflicts (also the files can mostly be edited in a text editor, then converted) do the esm files contain some similar alternate resource, or is it just extras (not overriding anything)?

I think it's best if you see this one for yourself. Did you already download FO3Edit? If not: FO3Edit

Launch FO3Edit, let it load all your active plugins (might take a while depending on your load order and your rig's performance), then, for example; open up the realistic interior lighting .esp. Then open up "image space", then click on one of the image spaces the mod modifies and you'll see how the mod overrides the Fallout 3 .esm. Also very handy to see if 2 mods which both alter the same cell / weapon / whatever conflict with each other or not.
