rickerhk
Many of the fo3 items have both a mesh in the fnv bsa, and an object definition in the fnv esp. These will show up in geck. Are there additional fo3 meshes in the fnv bsa, which have no object defintion in the fnv esp? Yes. The combat shotgun is just one example. But there are many others. davidlallen
In this case it would be highly tempting to look into the fo3 esm and merge the related object definition into a fnv mod. However, this would be illegal. So fo3 meshes which are in the fnv bsa may not be easy to use.
Akallabeth
Merging object definitions would not be illegal, copying over world spaces, scripts and other content would be as it is these bits that make the game. Adding definitions would only grant access to items and objects already in the BSA's provided by Obsidian, problem is working out which things are missing. New Vegas has plenty of additional content as yet untapped in the game files. I would like to point out their is plenty of missing content that Obsidian omitted from the BSA's. Cylentnyte
Okie dokie I found the earth/sun/star .NIFs and found the corresponding .dds files in the Textures.bsa...now what haha. I've done a little bit of googling but honestly don't even know what to put in for search terms. I tried creating static objects with the .NIF models but they don't render past a certain distance, and moving them close enough to the point where you can see the Earth from the windows is far too close, it just looks like the room in REPCON HQ with the solar system mobile. Looked into the View When Distant check box but it's greyed out for all of the objects... Thanks in advance

davidlallen
Okie dokie I found the earth/sun/star .NIFs and found the corresponding .dds files in the Textures.bsa...now what haha. Well, one possibility is to install the fallout *3* geck in your fallout *3* area, and look at how the object is defined in that geck. Perhaps there is some setting or scale factor there which you can note down, and then set similarly for fnv. My opinion is that you cannot legally merge the object definition from FO3 into FNV, but others on this thread have disagreed.
CausticRKS
Thanks for the direction Quetz, I'll post if I find anything :) you need to change the draw distance for the cell you are using it in. :) otherwise, it wont show up. This happens in 3D programs like Maya, too.
CausticRKS
You really don't need Fallout 3 for any of this. I don't even see how it'd be illegal either way. All the files are present in both games. xDThey probably did this because they KNEW someone would probably want to go back into FO3 for them. Also, you can only scale the objects up to a certain point in the cell. Eventually, the GECK cuts you off from making it too big. After you've got all 8 parts (at least I think it is eight) snapped together properly, drag over all of it and size them up until it won't let you anymore. Just make sure you don't select anything other than the dome pieces. It's an "interesting" setup... There might be something I'm missing and it'll hit me later, but I fail to see why there even has to be that many parts to it. Or why those parts couldn't just all be parented in the same .NIF file like they did with almost everything else. Lol. davidlallen
. All the files are present in both games. The OP has stated that these nif/dds files are not used in the fnv esm, only the bsa. If you have found object defintions in the fnv esm which use these nif/dds, please give the exact names.
