How well are my specs

Recommended Posts

Definitely the best help I have had from someone suggesting possible options for me. Thank you. So with all my other specs, if I buy the RAM, AMD CPU and mobo you suggested, I should have the necessary things in order to play games without the horrible low frame rate I have at the moment?

ya. you already have a pretty good gfx card so your good in that department. Ram is a deff upgrade for you. u need ddr3.

the mobo upgrade will allow you to use the new RAM as im not sure if your mobo (which i think is an LGA 755) can handle ddr3 1333 RAM, and if your going to upgrade your mobo, you might as well get a new CPU as well, esp if your going to get an AMD, they are cheap so its worth it anyways.

Your ram, gpu and cpu are adequate, even though your cpu is a few generations behind.

Your ram runs at 666mhz (Double data rate) which is pretty average for DDR2, I would probably install an extra 1gb/2gb stick or whatever amount your current individual sticks have to make sure your ram runs in dual channel mode.

I'm concerned that your cpu is idling at 72c, which seems high, usually conroe chips idle around about 50-60c with the stock cooler.

Hi Slaytounge,

if you want to upgrade for Skyrim i would wait for the release of the game. For Fallout your computer is okay with a ram upgrade. Your Ram is DDR 667 and with 3 GB you don't have dual channel support. Upgrade it to 2 x 2 GB DDR 800 or faster (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134582). This would cost you around 50$. Your graphics card is good enough for games like Fallout and the gfx card is the most important thing for games.

Your mainboard is ASUS, but without having the specs i can't suggest a cpu. I think if it runs a E6850 it can also handle the Q9xxx series. A Quadcore suggestion would be a Q9550, but mind this one isn't cheap and it makes no sense to upgrade the cpu if you want to upgrade your whole computer.
