Far Harbor: Using the BOS to fight Acadia

Fun conversation.

I guess I just have to disagree. But I enjoy reading your rationale. I think it comes down to whether or not we want to take the risks. I don't find your thought process unreasonable, but were I actually living in the Fallout Universe, I wouldn't take the risks. I still strongly assert that Synth brains are working faster and more efficiently than humans'. Most likely, the synth parts are somehow capping some of their capabilities so they appear more human. But that's pure speculation on my part. And as for the Synths not seeking upgrades.... if they're like humans, then that is exactly what they'll do. Humans seek to replicate themselves and augment their power.

But overall, the technology and story have some significant holes that I think stop us from definitively solving this problem. For example, the Coursers often appear emotionless, like the agents in Equilibrium, and this appears deliberate. Yet, the ex-Courser in Acadia is not like this. The technology to synthesize a human being on a molecular level would probably allow for the ability to manipulate cancer cells and thus save Father. As far as the BOS being a threat, well the Institute could've just repurposed the Molecular Relay and demolecularized the Prydwen. End of story.

To be clear I am not complaining. I think Bethesda has done a great job at crafting the story so that no one option is objectively and definitively clear in moral terms. That's why people have discussions like these. It's great.

In my play-trough of Far harbour i haven't seen any fighting at all.. better yet.. no BOS at all.. or any other faction from the commonwealth.Nor have i had the opportunity to start a fight.. apart from the occasional exchanges with the wild-man in the forest, and barring opening fire on a faction for no treason...

The quests simply ran out, and i ended up with nothing to do... so i left, and stopped playing Fallout 4.. Far Harbour was a major disappointment sir... and i will not be visiting it again...

In fact.. fallout 4 will be put on a shelf, in Idle hope of a miracle that will save Fo4 from drowning in its own Far Harbour.....

Semi off topic, but it seems to be a purposeful facade on the part of Coursers. X6-88's friendship lines and whatnot at high affinity have him talking like a normal person, rather than in that weirdly musical emotionless voice. Basically, once he's comfortable around you he talks like a normal person.

My theory is that coursers are actually self aware and whatnot, but they like being part of the Institute. They have power, they have a place, they are looked after and valued. Plus, some of them may well be sadistic bastards and enjoy their job. They have no reason to want to go rogue and escape the Institute.

It seems their design was influenced by the movie Equilibrium. By that measure, they are not incapable of emotion but rather discouraged from engaging in it.

Did you find this?

Found this map last night (in a whole section of the island I had never explored before). It's opened up quite a nice little mini-wild goose chase for me to get stuck into tonight when the kids are asleep. :D

Nope... never saw that.

I was in a underground medical thingy.. VIM i think it was called.. talked to some intercom, that said to bring nick... so i got and brought nick.. but nothing happened, thingy stayed silent.... and more of that nonsense...

I suspect there will be things that i didn't find.. but by that time i couldn't be arsed to go look for them... i was already bored out of my skull.. which is sad... i was looking forward to wiping that atom religion of the face of the world.. since i hate any kind of religion... but no...

I will wait for a miracle... which also never happens.

Could be a bug, but I know that location and I thought something had gone amiss when I was there also, and it turned out to be an intercom unit, set into a terminal facing the window, which needed to be interacted with in order for the voice-AI thingy to open the door. There's also another thing to do in that location which I very nearly missed as well.

There were a few points in Far Harbor that had interaction markers which were so tiny they could barely be activated unless you were in the exact spot to do it. Really odd.

The Red Death quest invisible boat glitch, for example, wasted a good half an hour of my time before I found the spot to interact with it.

Well "Dark Knight" that post makes me think its not your soul that's empty. Does anyone have a mod for our special needs friends besides the quest menu and compass marks that show you exactly where you need to go. Perhaps a companion that can lead you around by the hand and make sure you look both ways before you cross the mirelurk

And the winner for "Most obnoxious comment" goes to...
